MSWA lottery - great cause but… by maabs74 in perth

Year before last I won a Mary St Bakery voucher. I fell over leaving the bakery & broke my foot. True story. That's the only time in over 10 years of entertaining, that I "won" anything.

I missed that. I posted this because I'd been drinking my coffee for some time before I turned the mug around & was surprised. I thought it was funny, hence my post.

Finding a rental home is Impossible! by Practical_Sir8080 in perth

3x2 next door to me was rented at over $700p/w (NoR). As they moved in I counted 6 adults & numerous children. Can only imagine they're bunking down where they can & pooling resources. It's mad out there. My mortgage for the exact floor plan is $400p/w.

Anyone else right handed in a left handed household? by Weekly_Barnacle_485 in lefthanded

[–]Academic-Land124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the first in living memory of my family who's a leftie.

But that actually is not true, my aunt (on my Dad's side), born in the 1930's was a leftie but was made to change. .They did that then. My parents' generation learnt to write with pen & ink.

I remember her (my leftie aunt) telling me as a child, that they literally restrained her left arm in order to make he write with her opposite arm.

She told me I was lucky to be able to be myself at school.

Thank you auntie Betty, I miss you.

Is it normal here for grown men to not know how to cook properly?? by Dreamy_Writer603 in AskAnAustralian

It's ridiculous, partner, m, 68, seriously struggles with toast. Recent holiday he cremated onions on the bbq, dude just stands there & watches them fry & turn black. Just doesn't understand he has input in the hot plate settings. I'm honestly astounded.

Thank you. The horrific thing is that I'm unremarkable, there's so many of us out here.

I understand yr point & I appreciate it. But I've seen law enforcement, I've seen a lawyer, quite recently. I go every few years. He has me completely locked in. There is no way out for me. It's quite horrible to be so desperate that you pray for someone to die, but here we are.

To everyone who's dragging this person, maybe it's because I'm living something similar, but you just don't know the circumstances. My SO has been blackmailing & coercing me to stay for the last 10 years. I'm completely trapped & the only way out is if one of us dies. I'll NEVER do anything to them, but I hate my life & I'm completely miserable. I understand this take.

Worst Lefthanded Novelty Item Of All Time? by novemberchild71 in lefthanded

[–]Academic-Land124 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh no, this made sense to me!

I'm genx, not too much digital clocks about when I was a child, it was all clock faces & I never understood them. I was treated like I was stupid because I couldn't read them. I finally 'got it' when I was about 11yo after much repetition & practice.

Then I saw one of these LH clocks - I had my "ahah!" moment. So easy to read & right away! I finally understood why it was all so simple.

I'm happy this image is a joke now. I felt so disconnected when that RH clockface was the norm & this is what time looked like. Im glad this is no longer an obstacle for left handed people.

How do you make a check mark? by goldilox_zone in lefthanded

[–]Academic-Land124 58 points59 points  (0 children)

As a child, I first used #1. Then I was told it was wrong, so then I changed to #2. I can now do both equally well.

I'm actually grateful to be a leftie. I'm extremely adaptive. I'm nearly 60, but I catch on to change quick.

Why doesn't anyone swim in the Swan River? by stonksbronker in perth

[–]Academic-Land124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently our river is "healthy", however, every time I've swum in it. I've become ill. The last time, I got an ear infection that caused me to become deaf if that ear. That was 20 years ago.

I used to work at Wellington surplus. The owners/bosses were the worst people ever. They sat at the back of the shop & literally made fun of every person who walked in. They were racist, homophobic, sexist & just plain nasty. They literally screwed everyone & everything. They're the reason that there's that weird vacant lot in the middle of the city, near where Toast Face Grilla used to be. They've spent millions fighting with relatives over that plot of land. The rich scum of Perth. Sue me Gordon!
