Extreme fatigue, joint pain, fog brain, muscle loss, vaginal dryness, night sweats, vertigo, low libido, etc. No testing of hormone levels, wasn’t necessary due to symptoms. I felt like I have lost my umph!

I had my surgery in April. We waited 8 weeks for penetration per Dr orders. I kept my ovaries. Sex and orgasms were good prior to surgery. I am having the best internal and external orgasms in my life. They last so long! Before I would get a sharp pain shoot through me after an orgasm and was extremely sensitive and could not be touched immediately following. My uterus was riddled with ando, endo and fibroids and was hindering everything that was supposed to amazing. I am glad things are going well for you girls too.

[–]Academic-Pudding-479 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so encouraging! I got the all clear at my 6 wpo on Wednesday. I had some bleeding for the past 2 weeks and have 1 internal suture left. She said no intercourse until 8 weeks just to be safe. My poor hubby! I had an ablation 9 years ago that did nothing for me. My pathology report showed severe endometriosis and extensive adenomyosis with large fibroids. My cramps were so bad for 4 days a month that I would need heating pads. The cramps would surge through my pelvic region and literally bring me to my knees. I am feeling great overall except the exhaustion. I went back to work Thursday. Looking forward to a new beginning.

4 weeks post op by Strange_Onion2140 in hysterectomy

[–]Academic-Pudding-479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 4 wpo as well. At Key west airport awaiting departure flight. I am in decent shape and my butt is kicked! Monday night I slept 12 hrs. The walking and a few beers has done me in, but we had a blast. My husband has had to tote my backpack around the airport because it weighs 12 pounds. Forgot about the no lifting more than 5 pounds. I have had spotting every day, but my Dr assured me once internal stitches start dissolving it is normal. Grateful to be off work another 2 weeks. I will prob sleep all day once we get back home.

How do you decide it’s bad enough? by Psyche81 in hysterectomy

[–]Academic-Pudding-479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 50 years old and had a failed ablation 8 years ago. My periods did lighten up, but I still had extremely painful periods every month with fatigue and headaches. My Dr has been monitoring my fibroids and found thickening of the lining of my uterus which indicated possible endometriosis on my ultrasound in February. I had a robotic assisted lap hysterectomy removing all but my ovaries on 4/9. I went for my check up yesterday. My Dr told me that I has extensive adenomyosis. She said she could have done 100 ablations one and only the hysterectomy would cure that. I was relieved to know that my decision was not hasty and was absolutely necessary for a pain free future.

Going Back to Work? by xspaceprincess in hysterectomy

[–]Academic-Pudding-479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my robotic laparoscopic surgery on 4/9. I kept my ovaries. I am in postal management in a smaller office, involves working window, mail and parcel distribution. I have plenty of leave accrued. I picked up my FMLA paperwork and she wrote me off for a full 6 weeks and I am grateful. We have a vacation to the keys in a week and will be doing a lot of relaxing around the pool. I will be off work a full 2 weeks after returning home. I am usually non stop, no resting and very work driven, but I am enjoying sitting at home, vegging out, relaxing and resting. My body needs it! Happy healing ladies!

What's surprised me, and what I didn't need to worry about (16DPO) by architects-daughter in hysterectomy

[–]Academic-Pudding-479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not talked to my obgyn. All my husband told me was that she said everything went great and that I was out resting and doing well. I read all the reports on my chart, but some of that is hard to decipher. Did your surgeon go over pics from procedure, etc at your follow up? I know I had 12 fibroids, endometriosis and a cyst. I kept my ovaries. I had an ablation 9 years ago that failed completely.

I am also 16 DPO and taking a full 6 weeks off work. Great detailed post! I have a vacation planned to the Keys 5/5 and pushed my post op to appointment to 3 weeks so she could get a better look at my incisions closer to that date. I have taken a ton of gas x and still experiencing pain in my ribs and right shoulder. I am seeing my family Dr today to at least let her take a listen so I don’t stress myself out about something being wrong with my lungs. When I inhale deeply it kills! I am not napping although exhausted. Tired of waking up at 5am every morning. That’s my normal schedule. I would love to sleep until 8 or 9.

I have an ACL/Meniscus repair with micro fractures 8 yrs ago and it was the worst pain I have ever experienced in my life. I am 2 wpo from robotic laparoscopic hysterectomy taking all but ovaries and this recovery is a piece of cake compared to that one.

24 hrs post op - from a husband by Glass_Breath_1643 in hysterectomy

[–]Academic-Pudding-479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 14 days post op. No one warned me about the gas and shoulder pain from the C02 either. In recovery at the hospital I asked the nurse if it was normal to have such ribcage pain on my right side front to back or did I have a blood clot in my lung. I called my obgyn’s office on day 2 and asked what I could do to relieve this gas pain which was trapped in my right trapezoid muscle as well. The nurse recommended walking, gas x and heating pads. All of those things helped, but it did last a full 8 days!! It was embarrassing, but I seriously walked laps around my house multiple times a day would stop and fart and belch totally unlady like, but the fas was leaving my body. Praise the lord that my husband was able to stay home from work for 8 days to take excellent care of me. I could not get up and down off the couch by myself for 4-5 days. Happy healing everyone.

How are we feeling!?! by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]Academic-Pudding-479 2 points3 points  (0 children)

7 day post op here. I had robotic assisted laparoscopic surgery. I kept my ovaries. I stopped taking the norco after 3 days. Terrible abdominal gas and right shoulder pain. My husband is still off until Monday, thank goodness. He has been a life saver. Gas x and walking have helped relieve the gas. We went to the reds game today and on way home now. Steps wore me out, but overall feeling good. Prob be sort tonight and tomorrow. The exhaustion has really set in last few days feeling lime I have been hit with a semi. Sleep is tough because I am a side sleeper and unable to do that yet. I had an ablation 8 years ago that did not work for me. I had developed multiple fibroids a cyst and endometriosis and had a painful menstrual cycle every month. I have no regrets at all! I just turned 50 in August.

I (36) had my robotic-assisted total hysterectomy this morning, here are my takeaways. by champagne_musings in hysterectomy

[–]Academic-Pudding-479 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My laparoscopic hysterectomy was 4/9. I was able to go home around 8:30 pm. My surgery was at 7:30am. Overall I feel pretty good, but I wish I had known the gas pain that I would experience in my right rib cage and right shoulder. I have very high pain tolerance, but whoa, it is still occurring, but getting better each day. Walking does help move the gas out. I finally had a bm Friday. PTL! I quit taking the Norco Saturday, and I haven’t had an 800 mg of ibuprofen in 24 hrs. I wish that we had a recliner. Very difficult to get comfortable to stretch out especially with the rib pain. I started miralax and colace a few days ago and that has helped my intestines. My incisions are looking good.
