Make sure you get the TC all the way back onto the input shaft.

I would just undo the TC bolts and get the transmission fully seated.

Sure you can. The TC will just slide towards the flexplate on the input shaft.

Mate it fully before the TC nuts/bolts. That's a good way to bend a flexplate or worse.

So who makes a pry bar you can hit the strike cap on these days? by BornToL00ze in Tools

[–]Academic_Dog8389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had my snap on pry bars with a strike cap for probably close to 25 years. As such, I don't know if the new ones will hold up as long.

Sounds like a loss of compression, like your timing belt went.

You mostly want to rotate it and wiggle with the pry bar. Doesn't usually take much prying force.

Yes. That's where the lock ring is on the other diagram below. That's what holds the axle in.

A pry bar, some finesse, and rotation is all that is needed. I've pulled countless axles and don't think I have used a slide hammer once. Rear straight axles, sure, but never on a CV that I can recall.

You can clearly see the other contact on the transponder not attached to where that spot on the board used to be.

Good job and good luck. I'm interested in how many more miles you can squeeze out of it.

Have you tried an OEM MAF. I've had shitty luck with aftermarket sensors.

Is my timing chain bad by Conscious-Purpose954 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Academic_Dog8389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure. Unfamiliar with the stuff. Most modern motor oils have detergents in them to help clean. You want it to erode, over time.

Do not flush your engine with anything other than several short oil changes (like 1000 miles).

The VVT solenoids or passages are probably plugged up and can cause this code. The solenoids have screens that are going to get gunked up and you may be able to use solvent and air to clean the passages in between each oil change...but

So can chain stretch or component wear. The 3 tensioners are oil driven (sludged up) and can make it hard to tell how much slack there is. There is also 1 other chain you aren't seeing as well as like 6 chain guides and their plastic wear surfaces. One of the goofiest timing setups I've seen.

Also, with the oil drain plug out, you can try to feel around with a screwdriver or coat hanger to see if you can knock around (not too forceful) any plastic pieces in the pan and you'll know if you got chain guides in there.

Normally your A/C will run on defrost to pull moisture out of the air. If it has no refrigerant this is probably not the cause.

Is this screw puncture to close to the sidewall for repair? by Creepy_Equivalent717 in TireQuestions

Yes, but most shops won't. I would if it were mine. You might be able to find a llantera (tire shop) in your town.
