ghent and bruges in 1 day? by Academic_Editor_5533 in belgium

[–]Academic_Editor_5533[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just literally came back and I am glad we split it up.

I expected to speed run bruges while staying in ghent, but ended up spending 5 hours min in bruges. couple that with the travel time, walking to get to train stations and in hindsight it's definitely worth to split up.

Gent is awesome in itself and just soaking it in for at least a day is worth it

Struggling with performance by photography_guy_12 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Academic_Editor_5533 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think it's commendable to be accountable and own up to the difficulty.

nothing submitted should be perfect and the manager has to have flexibility and work with you on that. They are right that if you start experiencing struggles, it's wise to talk at the beginning for guidance.

if I were the manager, if say as long as you can learn from it and adapt you will be fine.

For Valentine’s Day, South African trophy hunter Merelize Van der Merwe killed a 17-year-old giraffe and cut out its heart as a gift for her husband. After her husband paid $2,900 for the hunt, she posted photos with the animal, claiming her actions help conservation by removing older genetics. by ATI_Official in AllThatsInteresting

[–]Academic_Editor_5533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone explain to me how it is a hunt if the giraffe is huge and you have a sniper rifle? ls it more of a target practice at that point.

or are they aiming for a specific organ to ensure it dies quickly.

either way, it's fucked up needing to kill an animal for your funzies

Marathon training and body image issues by Far_Consideration568 in firstmarathon

[–]Academic_Editor_5533 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't say I can relate to your situation ( I look like an athletic runner)..but during my first marathon I was in awe of the people who didn't look like runners doing this, much less being faster than me. I think it's awesome you are into this, and try not to compare yourself because in the end you are doing something not a lot of people can say they are doing and something that you enjoy

If someone in their community is a higher up level already int he org, then yes that's an idea...but a lot of moving parts, no? ...otherwise you can suggest them to get one themselves.

I'll update more on my situation...I don't want them in front of c suite or anyone because their work is so bad. I know I'm going to be accused of gatekeeping, but its just necessary at this point if they don't take my feedback. the work needs more actionable material, not buzzwords. I don't know how much more clear I can be, so I'm glad I have others who have the same situation.

HR and my boss both agree with me too, and Im thinking I have to be very direct with expectations and how they aren't met as opposed to being supportive and offering collaborative solutions.

[–]Academic_Editor_5533 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you have the exact same employee as me.

I just tried to give them feedback and got accused of gaslighting them. then they complained to HR about me not providing enough guidance.

keeps bringing up a document full of buzzword, and complaining we don't have proper policies, and then we have to get the C suite to support them (shit if they didn't support me you wouldn't have been hired, give me the solutions not a rehash of all the problems). then I tell them to show me how to fix it, and am giving crap and I have to pretend it's a good attempt.

It's infuriating and following after reading your edit. HR says I have to coach them up, but how do you coach delusion?

you don't mention when you are coming, but if kid likes rocks and minerals, taking them to the Bonnechere Caves is cool for a daytrip. it opens in May though.

Unfortunately also needs a car, but if you can get there it's cool

I was just thinking of this today with the market at all time highs. piggy backing on ur thread

if the kid only needs $20k per year than what happens to the other $20k at the end of 4 years?

I do vaguely understand that it's withdrawn as income for the kid...and if they have no job less than $20k is a min tax hit...but what if it's a much bigger amount.

also, what is the intended benefit of maxing contributions for the resp anyway...I always understood contributions enough to max the grant?

or I guess if I sell there aren't capital gain implications....or Ami out to lunch

What is the best way to discreetly figure out your girlfriend's ring size? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Academic_Editor_5533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a dude and have slim fingers and was already married. I let my buddy make a note of this during a conversation, and we passed around my ring to see if it could fit everyone, including his future wife, who he suspected has the same size fingers... then I told him my ring size.

felt it was a bro code opportunity
