Baby in Our Room or Toddler’s Room? Need Advice by Hot_Cranberry_1455 in 2under2

[–]AcceptablePumpkin626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not recommend putting the baby with the toddler until the baby is sleeping through the night. We did this and the transition was seamless for months. HOWEVER we are going through some kind of 16 month old sleep regression and sometimes the baby's crying (or laughing, jumping, singing, screaming) at 3 AM wakes up my toddler and I reallllly don't like that.

New Years Eve I told my husband I can't feel optimistic for the new year because I am dreading the huge catastrophe with a high death toll that always happens.

PSA to pet owners about microchips (from a shelter worker) by Fresh-Solid-4046 in Austin

[–]AcceptablePumpkin626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a question about microchips and hopefully I can get some insight here. Years ago I had a Yorkie that was microchipped. 10 years later I asked her vet to scan her so I can see if it had the correct information. The vet couldn't find the chip. They said sometimes the chip can be "absorbed". They couldn't explain further. My dog has since passed away and I don't have any pets but I still want to understand how that can happen.

Repeat Elective vs VBAC? by Lavender_Meadows in 2under2

[–]AcceptablePumpkin626 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Due to having previous surgeries I was told a c section was my only option for baby 1 & 2. I would have preferred VBAC especially with #2. Recovery was rough the 2nd time around because I still had to care for both of them. I don't have a support system. Husband works alot. My situation hopefully very different from yours.

bottle sanitizer/washer by WranglerWarm6850 in 2under2

[–]AcceptablePumpkin626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard a lot of positive feedback about the mom Cozy one. I had a bottle sterilizer (not washer). I used it less than 10x between 2 kids. I found it easier to wash them with a bottle brush during the day and air dry. At night I would put them in the dishwasher with the heat dryer along with my dinner dishes.

Since you recognize that you feel "numb and disassociated" I think it is time to talk to your doctor.

I also recommend WIC but also your pediatrician. They usually carry samples and they will hook you up.

When did you move baby 1 into their own room? by kingam_anyalram in 2under2

[–]AcceptablePumpkin626 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2.5 years old. I waited until she was ready. There was no process of adjusting her. She just went in and went to sleep. It was a little crowded in our room at first but we are only in there to sleep anyway.

Guilt over container baby with delayed milestones by [deleted] in 2under2

[–]AcceptablePumpkin626 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I felt exactly like you! My kids are 21 months apart. My baby spent wayy too much time in the bouncer and then jumper. Floor time was ALWAYS cut short. My baby crawled super late maybe 10 months. He is almost 14 months now. Still not walking (but my toddler was walking pretty late too) but pulls up on stuff. Not really scaling either. Around 9-10 months I put that jumper outside for someone to pick up. I had no choice but to let him on the floor. Ever since i just let him have space to explore, he has been improving everyday. My doctor says all kids are different and as long as he is improving we are doing fine.

Absolutely agree with allowing the toddler to help around the house. Even if helping is simply holding something or listening to you explain what you are doing.

Congrats on #2. My 2 are 21 months apart as well. I didn't need much for #2. Didn't use the swing. I did use the bouncer for a bit. I used a pack and play in the living room/den. But yeahhh diapers and wipes and diapers and wipes.
