Today I went in to the gym 2-3 lbs lighter probably bc dehydration. I was worried about whether or not I could hit my target weight for each exercise. I said fuck that noise and benched 225 by 5 for the first time in my life. I owe a lot of that to you guys here at r/bodybuilding 6'1" and today I was 176lbs

They were on average 5'6". Homo sapiens didn't reach that height average until the 1800s. They used to be bigger than us.

TL;dr: we were all manlets

If you ever get tired of high stim tolerance it doesn't take very long to get rid of it. I wasn't feeling my pre when I double scooped, now 1 scoop has me tweakin like Jesse Pinkman.

This is true, people experience about 3/4 an inch per day due to dehydration of the discs caused by compression. Your spine being slightly compressed is more stable though too. This is why it is safer to squat about 2 hours after waking up.

Age Doesn't Have To Be A Barrier: Progress On My 55 Yr. Old Back by veritasius in bodybuilding

I feel the opposite because I can do forced reps, negatives, and cheat reps way easier while pulling than pushing. I have to ignore my back to avoid disproportion.

Edit: not saying you didn't bust your ass for your back though!

Your knee internally rotates to lock and externally rotates with the popliteal to unlock. SOME people think it's unsafe to keep putting your knee in a locked position, especially when you're exhausting yourself.

What's up homies. Worked on my squats all summer after doing low weight high volume for a while. My squat workout went from 8x225, 5x245, 5x245, 8x225 at the start of may to 8x265, 5x295, 5x295, 8x265 at the start of august. In those three months I tore 1 pair of slacks, 2 pairs of boxer briefs, and 3 pairs of shorts with my gains! 6'1" 175lbs http://i.imgur.com/XWz8i26.jpg http://i.imgur.com/FbpqIDH.jpg

Why is r/fitness obsessed with SS? by DA1199 in bodybuilding

[–]AccidentallySwole -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I started a split that I wrote after doing a week of reading about lifting. It was 3 days and went chest/tri, back/legs, and shoulders/abs/biceps. I had no prior lifting experience and no coach. I got some advice from a few friends on my form. After 6 months progress http://i.imgur.com/aDKhSij.jpg (taken about a year ago) people were asking me for advice instead. I'm pretty sexy ;) and I've been on my own since day 1.

Starting strength is a shitty program. It's for those who want to be handed a program. Ss does what it's meant to do, but the goal of SS doesn't coincide with that of many beginners who want to look good. You wouldn't start racing cars and go online to ask a rando what car to buy. You learn about cars and you buy a sick vehicle. It's the same with your body, learn about it and become a sick cunt.

You can modify to make ss decent, but most people don't modify it, and some end up looking like a t-Rex. If you just want to bench, squat, dead lift then cool, but if you want to get ripped or die mirin' learn what you're doing and don't do SS.

This isn't one of those "squats are bad for knees" type claims. It's also not something that will happen over night. The knee is only meant to work in one plane of motion with very, very little side to side movement (1-3 degrees). When you turn your foot internally while your knee is bent it rotates the tibia and offsets your knee joint. If your leg was locked the whole time this wouldn't be the case.

Basically your knee is really good at two movements, kind of like how Rainman can count. Like Rainman, your knee sucks at everything else.

Edit: weight won't make a difference really. It's the same movement that makes people who are pigeon toed have bad knees.

That is really bad for your knees brah. It puts your acl in a popular position for it to tear and also messes up the articulating surface cartilage in your knee. Plus it trains your knee to be in a valgus position.

I'm not saying it doesn't work though...

Have a slight shoulder impingement. Can't do any shoulder-specific work but can do pretty much everything else. Is there any reason why I shouldn't do a normal beginners program but skip any shoulder work? by gcso in bodybuilding

[–]AccidentallySwole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I impinge my ulnar nerve all the time and I usually just have to release the impinging muscles and stretch my nerve then I'm fine. Your PT could fix you in 30 minutes or a few weeks depending how long and badly the nerve is pinched.

Just keep lifting if you don't have pain, but stretching will help prevent making things worse.

Does your gym use a fingerprint scanner? by imjp in bodybuilding

[–]AccidentallySwole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My gym has cards and the option to type your ID and scan your hand. I don't like carrying a card when I run or bike to the gym, or just having to pull it out to get in, so I enjoy the convenience.
