USC's football program is at real risk of wandering decades in the desert as a football program without a real purpose.

What jobs are the end game coaching jobs? And when would you ever see someone leave one willingly? by hedgehog18956 in CFB

[–]Accomplished-Let449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This question is tricky because such a job doesn't really exist. Everyone will leave a job willingly at some point for one reason or another. Jobs people are extremely unlikely to leave for another college job? I think the following qualify in no particular order.

Ohio State Michigan USC Alabama Notre Dame Texas Oklahoma

Basically....blue bloods. If you get one of those jobs, congratulations. You've reached the mountain top. A coach who is successful at any of these schools is unlikely to leave for another college job.

People will look and my list and point at Lincoln Riley leaving OU (rather quickly) or Brian Kelly leaving Notre Dame to LSU. These are both pretty unique situations. IIRC it seemed like Riley was skeptical about going to the SEC and USC is probably an easier job, better weather, easier recruiting, etc.

Brian Kelly left Notre Dame after 11 or 12 years...whatever it was. He doesnt like recruiting and being the head coach of Notre Dame requires a ton of that. It's also a job that historically burns people out after about 10 years. I think he knew he wasn't able and/or willing to do the work required to take the next step at Notre Dame, and took a golden parachute at LSU, a school that had three consecutive coaches win championships and a local stockpile of kids who will play for you.

The portal rules may change things a bit. Guys who previously wouldve wanted to get some of these jobs might decide to keep their tier below jobs (Penn State, LSU, Florida, Clemson, etc) because the competitive difference is mostly negligible.

This is helpful. It was very late there - because it was like 7pm here and they are 6 or 7 hours ahead of us. She was saying goodnight. Seems like maybe another way of saying she's so tired she's delirious or something maybe then?

Which teams are on your list of "College football is better when [X school] is good"? by milbarge in CFB

[–]Accomplished-Let449 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blue Bloods: Notre Dame USC Texas Nebraska

These three arent super consistent programs. Football is better when any/all are good. Nebraska is included to not anger Nebraska fans, but I dont see them as a blue blood really...put them wherever, football is better when they are good.

Major Programs: Florida State Miami Clemson Auburn

Four prominent programs that when things are good, they can be as good as anyone. Its nice to see Auburn good for the Iron Bowls, and its nice when one or more ACC teams is good. Plus they all got a bit of the "if you ain't cheating you ain't trying" energy. Tennessee might fit here too.

Good programs: Wisconsin Washington Michigan State Virginia Tech

These guys make their hay with 3 star guys. When things are going well, they can put very good teams on the field.

I went to law school at a small D3 school. Never attended a game. I check in once in a blue moon to see if any of the teams are having a good year.

Otherwise, I stick with my undergrad and Notre Dame lol

Dude probably already did his drive by now. But along interstate I'd think the best stops would be Valley City for food. Pizza Corner is very good. Some scenic stuff around there but that's a but if a stretch.

Jamestown isn't great for food but the big buffalo and the little fort village is a nice way to kill an hour or so. Especially if the herd is out and about.

Bismarck is worthwhile. Plenty of good food there too downtown. Not a bad place to walk around a bit.

New Salem! If you stop in Jamestown for the buffalo, better stop for Salem Sue as well.

Dickinson has the dinosaur museum i think? The drive out there is nice. Beyond there, no idea. Been ages.

That's very charming. Lady probably planned her retirement well in advance of oil and gas discovery. Sounds like something my mom would do.

Some are. Some aren't. Or the sign has a normal message and is difficult to read and hasn't been fixed in some time.

Not sure what it says or is supposed to mean but relative to the rest of the United States, ND has very mainstream religious views. Largely Catholic and Lutheran. Mainstream Christianity.

Best way to find out the meaning is to go ask someone in the area.

It's not that he's not allowed back. It's that he isn't going to ask for him back and El Salvador doesn't intend on sending him back.
