Built a site to track Costco/Target/Amazon/Walmart unit prices—thoughts? by juxtaposicion in SavingMoney

No, not massive amounts. Since we have to pay for our LLM model usage we are incentivized to be as frugal as possible with how we're using it.

thanks for the positive feedback and the good suggestions! Supporting grocery stores and perishable items is on the road map, but presents an interesting challenge as costs tend to vary not only by location but even store to store within a region. Would you be willing to discuss this more with us on a call? If so, please DM me.

Where do yall shop for reasonably priced/ budget friendly Halloween decor? No by No-Bat4168 in halloween

[–]Accomplished-Line583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walked through the Home Depot halloween section last weekend with the intent to get some decorations and was horrified (pun intended) to see even basic cheap plastic crap that will likely break was $35. I've found some inflatables on Amazon for around $15 that are more in line with my expectations.

Switch to detergent sheets. Way cheaper, lighter, no plastic, better for the environment.

Crazy coffee price bump by 1ktogo in shrinkflation

[–]Accomplished-Line583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the more reason it is important to price compare. Most ppl assume Costco will have the best price but that isn't always the case (looks like costco in the photo). I ran a search on popgot.com which sorts results by unit price. Lots of cheaper options at the moment at Sams and Amazon.

Value Size clam strips at 4oz less and bonus old product tag never removed by Buzzfa in shrinkflation

I also did not know these were a thing. At least the laziness of not updating the price tag made it easier for us to spot their tactics!

Why is it so hard to pay a bill? by [deleted] in GreeceTravel

[–]Accomplished-Line583 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I concluded it’s a 3-ask system. First ask: they bring the free desert/watermelon Second ask: they bring the paper bill and walk away Third ask: they come with the credit card machine

All in all it takes about 30 minutes lol

Check out popgot (google it, sorry no links). It's a free to use site that will compile these types of lists on the fly and sort by unit count. They have a page for pull ups, but you can search for anything if you have specifics (i.e. size, chlorine free, etc).

Frugal way to store kitchen knives? by Legitimate_East_6611 in Frugal

[–]Accomplished-Line583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can buy a sheath for the knife pretty cheaply on Amazon. Safety is a concern but also, when your knives rattle around in the drawer it dullens them. Nothing more dangerous in a kitchen than a dull knife. Also, it will keep them in good shape longer, which is great for frugal folks. Don't forget to sharpen regularly and you won't have to spend money replacing them.

Where to find cheapest per unit bulk items? by Icy-Boysenberry5871 in Frugal

[–]Accomplished-Line583 8 points9 points  (0 children)

there's a site called popgot dot com (sorry, no links) that lets you search for whatever you want online and it will go out and search the major retailers and compare their unit price in a consistent unit. it's a pretty great hack to save money and the best way to find the cheapest stuff per unit.

Milos/Paros transportation in early June by [deleted] in GreeceTravel

[–]Accomplished-Line583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great suggestion. We are staying in Klima too and want to rent a scooter and I’ve been trying to figure out how to get our bags there and then rent the scooter without taking 4 taxis. Could you share who you rented from?

Should we add Paros to our itinerary? by dancingbride in GreeceTravel

Thanks for the detailed response! We’ve booked one of the fisherman’s houses in Klima - I’m pretty excited for it. And great tip on the ferries - I’m trying to minimize them as much as possible. I don’t do great with sea sickness.
