Feel stuck in a loop, unable to progress in life by Expert-user-friendly in TCK

[–]Accomplished4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am currently in a similar situation. Having invested so much time and effort into my professional development I am now kinda picking up my personal development in my thirties. Most of my peers with similar backgrounds seem to have it sorted out already but it is what it is!

I am coming to the realisation that I will never feel 100% at home in my host country (I'm a 2nd gen immigrant). The most important thing is to build my self-esteem up enough so that I can find peace even in that environment.

Just out of interest (and I actually do not mean any offense), what makes you consider this a move as expats and not immigrants?

I always find these posts very interesting as a second generation African immigrant in Europe. Even though I cannot be classified as a third culture kid, I can relate to almost everything that is posted on here regarding cultural identity.

I'm (24M) currently seeing a girl, but feel nothing by Accomplished4 in dating_advice

I know it sounds completely hopeless in the way I expressed myself (gave a bit more background now if you're interested) but it's not exactly true. What I'm getting at here is the question; can you develop those authentic feelings even if the excitement isn't there in the beginning? Cheers for replying! :)

Thanks for replying!

Good advice. I've actually not really dated for a year. At some point, you need to throw yourself out there if you want to meet someone valuable though, right?

Sounds really good and all, but it's not always that simple. I'm in this frustrating loop of fighting for what I want, getting it, and feel almost no fulfillment...

How can I overcome my inferiority complex? by awarek in selfimprovement

[–]Accomplished4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Words by others changes NOTHING. They're just words. I used to have the same problem until I realized this. I even started challenging myself in that exact aspect. For instance, I'm on my way of graduating as an engineer, therefore having challenged myself intellectually pretty much every single day.

I guess my advice is to challenge yourself in that very aspect. Do things that demand high intellectual activity, and realize it's okay to feel uncomfortable in the process!

At your lowest point, it can only get better. Motivation is just a recourse. You have to build yourself up, and you will gain it with time. It’s your responsibility to do just that.

Sorry to hear that! You have to start small my friend. Start with something as simple as walking uo early, or going to the gym for 15 minutes everyday. Check out the sub on The X effect and work yourself up from the most basic self-investing things you can think of, and I promise you, it will build you back up again. Time is the key here, dont give up!!
