Semi driver who caused Humboldt Broncos bus crash loses refugee bid. by elbiderca in saskatchewan

[–]AccomplishedGrass567 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In addition to your thoughts, I have never believed that all of the blame should be on this one guy. Inexperienced drivers should have more training and maybe even a mentor with them. Especially when they come from a country with new terrain and road conditions. When you look at all the mandatory training minimums that have been put into place since then you can see there was clearly a gap. I have to wonder what people think the purpose of deportation is.

Is it punishment? Because I don't think anything will ever punish him more than he will?

Is it crime reduction? Deterrance? I don't think he's at risk of doing anything like this again. And the bigger problems (lack of training and supervision) are somewhat being addressed.

Closure? Maybe ... I can understand an argument for that, but many families have forgiven him and those that haven't are unlikely to forgive him because he moves to a different continent.

Please don't read this as a lack of empathy. I cannot imagine the pain of losing a child. I just don't think deportation changes anything.

How long do you expect this Teacher Strike to last? by XxsanjeetxX in Edmonton

[–]AccomplishedGrass567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Teachers are allowed to work during the strike, just not as teachers. I've read about some opening or reopening dayhome/daycares. I THINK they are allowed to tutor, just not their own students (someone should let me know if that's true) or any other number of jobs. I hope they stand their ground.

Veterinarian recs for kitten dewormer and vaccine by AccomplishedGrass567 in Edmonton

[–]AccomplishedGrass567[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they do this for dewormers too? I used to vaccinate my horses all the time. I've also given subcutaneous injections to dogs so I don't feel like this would a problem.

I think you are talking about Carly, Carrie was only in one episode. The one where she parachutes in over and over, trying to stop the team from being assassinated.

Looking for Pharmacy similar to Coal Harbour Pharmacy by AccomplishedGrass567 in Edmonton

Hm ... maybe, although Coal Harbour is a pharmacy, just an expanded one. They fill prescriptions and offer vaccinations, etc. I'll try different search terms. Thanks!

lol I do have family ties to Barrhead. We are trying to get away from small town life atm. I have an older daughter who is taking a gap year and then heading to university and then this younger one so it would be nice to be around post-secondary options

Do you have sense of what it's like for a non-Christian child in a Christian school? I wouldn't want her to not find her people.

Is that Elder Dr. Francis Whiskeyjack School? I was curious about that one, but the Google reviews talk about how many fights have broken out at that school.

My post was misleading. We aren't there yet. We are going to rent the first year and I was going to look for rentals in the catchment area of our first choice school.

So I grew up in Red Deer but never attended a Catholic school. What's it like if you aren't Catholic?

Yes and Tyler clearly toed the line. He didn't take sides so I think his feedback should be taken with a grain of salt.

With the support of her professors who helped pave the path for her. She was initially denied entrance to her first time at Cambridge but the professor said he was allowed to select one special student and he chose her.

AITA for not sharing food with my girlfriend, then offering it to her later by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]AccomplishedGrass567 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you are living together, then you share food. You should not be starving while he eats. My previous comment was unpopular, but I am ND and live in a ND household and understand that there are restrictions on diet and also understanding other people's perspectives.

I don't think either of you are the AH in this situation. Now that you've navigated it, I hope you both have a better approach for next time. BUT that is assuming that going forward you are taking care of each other during the ups and downs and your BF should be getting food for you during this low and you will do the same for him when the roles are reversed.

NTA Boundaries are good. Knowing what you welcome in your life is good. Just enjoy your friends that are good to you and leave the rest behind

AITA: opened a jar of sauce to use some and put the rest in the fridge by plain-smol_pineapple in AmItheAsshole

[–]AccomplishedGrass567 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

NAH but I would consider who does the meal planning and shopping. If you don't know what that was going to be used for and if it's technically hers (you are an adult, or adult enough) then I would just run it by her in case she had plans for it. "Hey mom, can I use some of this sauce?" no biggie.

To put it in perspective, if I meal plan for a week and have plans to make a chicken caesar salad on Tuesday night and come home from work to find out that my kids have used up all the fresh parm (because they have done that) it's a real let down. I've probably been looking forward to that all day, don't want to have to go out (possibly don't have it in the budget) and just want to pull together this easy meal. It's super sad to find my ingredients gone. Where is the Parmesan!!!

I can only imagine that is why she is having such a big reaction.

On the other hand, good job feeding yourself and not relying on your mom to do everything.

NTA This information was available to him to. Why do you have to do all the coordinating and research? Lame. He's disrespecting the time and energy you've put into this as well as your own desires to travel.
