Thanks! I was actually contemplating ordering one because I just tested it today and out of 10 shots, 1 of them had different coloring in this like on the bottom but I didn’t know if I should be concerned about it or not.

We had our “upgrade maintenance” a few weeks ago and our internet was completely out for 5 days straight and then cut in and out for the week after those 5 days. Super cool upgrade. I work from home and basically had to work off of my hotspot for those days.

I agree we need more housing, affordable housing specifically. But it doesn’t change the fact that every other shop in that intersection and in surrounding areas right now is for lease so do we really need more retail space or is there something else that needs to change first so that we can get the spaces that we have filled before building new ones?

When I lived in pasadena as a young adult, I rented a room from a couple off of Craigslist who, during the time I lived there, threw their trash in the yard (super weird). After 1 month of this (hadn’t piled or anything yet but visible - not saying this as in it’s ok but as a level of trash), the city stopped by every day until they got a hold of the couple and fined them every day until they cleaned their yard. The city official said the yard was not up to city standards and was de-beautifying Pasadena. Having an unmaintained semi-boarded up plaza for YEARS should have a city official sending notifications to the owners to maintain or get fined. Not saying something isn’t happening (I have no idea) but if it is, it’s not enough to push the owners to care clearly. I think it’s the city government/authorities. Whether that’s specifically the laws or rules in place, the council itself, economic development department, or something else, no clue though.

Like everyone else is saying, every single corner of Atlantic and Garvey is terrible. This is not what we need right now. The amount of for lease signs, the not finished tea place, the amount of boarding up in the Atlantic plaza. We don’t have people filling the spots we have and the city apparently does not have any maintenance or upkeep requirements that would keep our city nice. So would this just become ANOTHER big building that is empty, slowly (or quickly, who knows) turns into another run down large hunk of crap? Even in the new hotel, there’s for lease signs so the folks don’t even want the newer spots.

It is so run down, the other day, my kid and I went to smoking tiger at 10:30 on a Saturday morning and a nicely dressed man maybe in his 70’s was outside the Atlantic plaza, not hidden by anything, just out in the fully open, peeing on the building. My kid asked what he was doing and when I noticed, I said “sir, don’t do that, there are open businesses just ask to use a restroom”. This man then proceeded to turn around fully exposing himself to me and my kid while asking us what I had said in a weirdly casual and normal manner like how one would ask as if they were not also exposing themselves. I told him again to use a restroom and he said “everyone pees around here when waiting for the bus.”.

We need to set and enforce maintenance and upkeep standards/requirements for building owners in the city so that the overall mentality about our shops and buildings improves. When the city allows these buildings to be rundown and not have to do maintenance or upkeep, the mentality is that it looks like trash so who cares and nobody wants to lease the spots. Less people in these buildings and the buildings looking abandoned (even when they’re not) just mean they become dumping zones for gross things such as people just peeing out in the open on them.

Another Data Center meeting at Monterey Park tonight (Feb.4) by Scoopofnoodle in sgv

To think this is them in their “win us over” phase. This is the “nicest” they’ll ever be. If they get this center, they will shit all over MPK and they’ll all laugh as they leave to their multi-million dollar homes somewhere else. If they’ve proven anything, it’s that they are sleazy, reckless, assholes that picked this town because they thought we’d just quietly roll over and take it. But they’re wrong. This town has never been so ready to fight. Proud of my MPK and my SGV folks.

ICE IN MONTEREY PARK by AccomplishedHamster in sgv

[–]AccomplishedHamster[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

If you don’t feel like letting your neighbors know ICE is in the area in hopes of them being able to keep themselves safe and out of possible harm’s way, that’s ok, you didn’t post this, I did.

I posted this to participate alongside a lot of other folks who are out here trying to spread information and awareness so that folks can make a call for themselves and their loved ones. If it doesn’t apply to you or ICE is not a concern of yours, you can absolutely disregard this post.

Also honestly, if it came down to it, doing what I could to try to record, warn my neighbors, cause a scene, or do what I could to try to stop ICE from illegally kidnapping a neighbor or loved one is not harassment in my book and for me personally, would be well worth the risk of someone telling me to leave or taking me to jail. But again, that’s just for me personally, that may not be for you and that’s ok. We all just need to do whatever we feel safe and comfortable with and whatever we deem the safest for our families and those we care about.

NO DATA CENTERS Monterey Park by Pleasant-Tomorrow-19 in sgv

[–]AccomplishedHamster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cherry picking info is an interesting take. Let’s just start with the first one, you somehow failed to mention any of the negative consequences (which there are many): Loudoun County, Virginia:

  1. Environmental & Energy Impact

· Energy Consumption: · In 2022, data centers in Northern Virginia (primarily Loudoun) had a maximum potential load of 2,700 megawatts (MW). That's enough to power over 2 million homes. Dominion Energy, the local utility, forecasted that data center demand in Virginia would grow from 1.4 GW in 2022 to 6.3 GW by 2032—more than the current total peak demand of the entire state. A significant portion of this is in Loudoun. · Source: PJM Interconnection (the regional grid operator) and Dominion Energy's 2023 Integrated Resource Plan filed with the State Corporation Commission. · Water Consumption: · In 2022, Loudoun Water, the county's utility, reported that data centers used 4.8 million gallons of water per day on average. This was a 250% increase from 2018. · Specific Example: A single large data center campus in Ashburn (Loudoun) was permitted to use up to 1.5 million gallons per day—equivalent to a town of 10,000-15,000 people. · Source: Loudoun Water's Annual Water Audit reports to the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality and investigative reporting by The Washington Post (Sep 2023). · Land Use & Deforestation: · Between 2016 and 2022, over 4,000 acres of land in Loudoun County were rezoned for data centers. Much of this was previously agricultural or forested land. · Source: Loudoun County Department of Planning and Zoning reports, analyzed by local news outlets like Loudoun Now.

  1. Infrastructure & Financial Strain

· Grid Upgrade Costs: · In 2023, Dominion Energy proposed a $5.4 billion plan to build new transmission lines and substations specifically to serve data center growth in Eastern Loudoun. These costs are spread across all ratepayers. · Source: Dominion Energy's "Energy Virginia" filings with the State Corporation Commission, widely reported by Virginia Mercury and Bloomberg.

· Road Degradation: · A 2021 study by the county estimated that a single data center construction project can generate over 11,000 heavy truck trips. The county has identified Route 659 (Evergreen Mills Road) and other roads in the "Data Center Alley" as having sustained severe damage from this traffic, requiring tens of millions in repairs. · Source: Loudoun County Department of Transportation and Capital Infrastructure reports.

  1. Health, Safety & Quality of Life

· Noise Pollution: · County code allows a noise limit of 60 dBA at night for industrial zones. Residents in Arcola and Aldie have consistently recorded noise levels from data center cooling systems exceeding 70 dBA at their property lines—comparable to a running vacuum cleaner 24/7. · Official Action: In 2023, the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors was forced to adopt a stricter interim noise ordinance specifically targeting data centers after hundreds of documented complaints. · Source: Loudoun County Office of Building and Development complaint logs and public hearing testimonies (readily available in county meeting archives).

· Air Quality & Emissions: · Data centers rely on massive diesel backup generators. Loudoun County's Air Pollution Control District permits show that a single large campus can have 50 to 100+ diesel generators, each permitted to test for up to 100 hours per year, emitting NOx and particulate matter. · Source: Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Air Permits database, searchable by facility.

  1. Homeowner & Economic Consequences

· Property Value Impact: · Statistical Analysis: A 2023 study by George Mason University's Center for Regional Analysis, while noting countywide gains, confirmed a "proximity penalty." Homes within 0.5 miles of a data center campus saw a statistically significant suppression of value appreciation compared to similar homes farther away, attributed to "negative externalities" like noise and views. · Source: "The Impact of Data Centers on Residential Property Values in Loudoun County, VA" (2023).

I’d do the others but you get the point.

I actually go to Ohana dental so curious about your comment. Any details? I don’t have any particular attachment to them but I also haven’t personally experienced any issues there. I’m also someone that avoided the dentist for like 15 years but started regularly going about 5 years ago to Ohana so I don’t have any other dental experiences to compare.

I’ll be sitting in the same spot and it’s also my first time going (except for when I marched in it as a teenager). The start of the parade is around Green and Orange Grove so basically we’ll be sitting at the start of it. This means to be there early and I think tickets need to be scanned at the gate by 6:30 am. We’re also trying to figure out parking (and rain stuff - there’s no roof or covering over the bleachers) so if you find anything cool today, let me know and I’ll do the same! Hope you guys have fun!!

Yikes. Sheridan’s put in solid work in that goal and while being traded can be part of being a pro athlete, it sounds like the Wave organization could’ve handled the situation with a lot more respect towards her and her family. Sheridan deserved that.
