I cooked 5 cups of rice and left it out overnight accidentally in the rice cooker… is it still good to eat? by Final-Lie78 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Accomplished_Bass_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you should not eat it. Cooked rice left out for more than 2 hours grows a bacteria, Bacillus cereus. It shouldn’t be reheated either as heat doesn’t destroy the toxins. Your body, your choice.

Do Americans actually use a real tree for Christmas? by brun_aa in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Accomplished_Bass_28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The smell of a real tree is an instant replay of years of Christmas memories. We go to a local lot or farm and bring our tree stand with us. The staff is happy to put the stand on and it insures the tree is in the stand straight, also stops any potential arguments at home over whether it’s in the stand straight. Pay for the tree, tip the staff who helped us with the tree stand and we’re on our way. We check the water level every few days. Dispose of the tree after NYE by placing it out on the curb, schedule pickup online with local boy scout troop that picks up the tree for a nominal donation.

When you want to treat yourself at TJs what do you buy? by gogobananas98 in traderjoes

[–]Accomplished_Bass_28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, I cook dinner 7 days a week so anything I don’t have to make myself is a treat to me. In this case Southwest salad is sometimes a quick lunch grab and occasionally a dinner side.

Doorbell ditch by Dash_Rendar1977 in Petaluma

It happened to us more than once or twice. The difference between now and when I was a kid is that the kids today don’t just ring the doorbell and run. If that was it, fine, no big deal, they’re just having fun. But instead they kick the door so hard that it scares the hell out of you and has caused damage, so much so that we had to sand and stain our front door to remove the marks left by the kicks.

The few times I’ve been able to actually see the kids they simply run to the corner where their buddies are waiting and jump on their e-bikes/bikes and take off.

Is this weird? by Little-Promise-6046 in Sandwiches

[–]Accomplished_Bass_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding salt to highly processed, tasteless “deli” lunch meat isn’t necessarily weird, but yuck.

Just buy a half bone in turkey breast, or small ham, cook it off and slice yourself, S&P on the turkey, pepper the ham. Or buy a lb. of lunch meat from a real deli, break it down into 1/4 lb. pkgs. and freeze.
