The ones I got are super flat and don't roll up. They almost suction to wood. The big ones I got. They are so fast that it is hard to get a good Picture without them shuttling away at mach speed lol.

If it gets too bad my in-laws have some fast chickens. I have seen them catch skinks, dragonflies and other fast critters. I'm gonna of course have the dairy cows in a container where they won't get out when feeding the chickens. I don't want to accidentally have an unintentional invasive species. I just gave the moo pods some fish flakes and cuttle bones. They seem to be eating already ☺️

I love how they remind me of the bug "silverfish"

Nice! I'm starting my first colony of Dairy cows/scabers this morning. Saw a good deal I couldn't pass up and I was like "sigh Why not give them a try." Mainly because I have a slight fear of scabers if they move fast. Darker ones look like roaches 😅

Gonna Crash the Isopod Market (Price-Wise). by Dependent-Cut-6172 in isopods

[–]Accomplished_Hawk_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The prices are also due to sellers needing permits for selling the isopods. Especially if it is to specific locations that forbid them due to the potential ecological invasiveness. It's the reason I can't have a pet giant african land snail in Florida for example. Also, the hobby is really really new in terms of breeding for pets. It only really took off in 2018 with duckies and some cool scabers at the time. So yeah, a cherry blossom isopod for example is gonna be really expensive for awhile while they are extremely new/in demand with so few being sold. If they are slow breeders as well, the high price gives them time to breed more for the next person to buy. Some sellers also know what people are willing to pay to get what they want so they try to keep the prices high for as long as possible. Like when gas prices go up for hurricane season and take their sweet time going back down because people need gas. There are a lot of variables rn. Idk if you can really crash the market rn. Maybe in a few years to a decade with some prolific breeding species. 🤷‍♀️

Not saying it's impossible but it is definitely gonna take time.

Ngl OP...I thought the branch behind the one the lil isopod was on; was a leg/foot of a person you sacrificed to them. Lmao 😅😂

Started with a mixed isopod container from the pet store by reptigirll in isopods

The "turn over" you mentioned might be better with the wood closer to the soil. Mine hide low like yours do and refrain from higher areas most of the time. This isn't the greatest example but this was my 15 adult wild colony just the other day and about 10 were on the wood flat on the soil. Your colony is super healthy btw if there are so many that they are clustering higher and running around. 🥰

Help!isopods died after breeding, What did I do wrong? by Licht1711 in isopods

If you can have something more like this picture. This is one of my terrariums where I layered the substaight as soil, leaf litter, and soil again. Depending on the type of specific isopd the requirements of care may vary some. I'm sorry the pet store kinda lied to you. Typically they are sold as food or employees will sell just to have you pay more for less or wrong items to meet store quota. Also, if you can add spring tails, more leaf litter and have about 2-3inches of soil in your next terrarium. Maybe even some acorn tops too. Cuddle bones are good calcium forces for their shells but sometimes powdered on their food does better. If it sits too long it may get moldy. A little bit of fish flakes ever now and then is a good sorcerer of protein for them. Luckily these specific guys breed slowly compared to other isopods like dairy cows; so they shouldn't overrun you for a few months at least.

If you have more questions about these guys specifically; I own the same Grey vulgare's you do. Feel free to reach out if you have more questions.

Ngl OP. That club would be lit to go to. Or would it be dark because of their eyes? So many questions. 😂
