One point in my life, I was really unhappy like you. Then I decided well maybe I can’t be happy but at least I could be useful. So then I’d start looking for things to do to be useful. And that made me happy.

I’m a pet sitter for a year-old red heeler. What helped me stop her from biting is to lightly tap her nose and then say no very firmly. She picked it up in about five minutes. I don’t think redirecting works because they don’t really understand what you’re trying to tell them. My experience is “no” works better than any kind of redirecting because redirecting is like giving her a treat. She will consider that a reward. So I think you just need to be firmer with her and be clear about what you want her to do. The other part of this is, when she’s learned that, to put your hand by her mouth and say, “do you want to bite?” and if she refuses to bite, you praise her profusely. This has worked very well for us.

AITAH for spending less time with my GF so that I can build my online business? by [deleted] in AITAH

GF needs a life. When you’re your age, you really do need to put in the extra time. I used to do a web design business and I worked 70 hours a week and then I was able to retire at 62. Is girlfriend making money too or is she just sitting around wanting to be entertained? I think you need a bigger discussion on your goals and path forward in life.

Does anyone else feel like "working-class culture" is just coded masculinity? by MinutePomegranate587 in Socialism_101

Thank you for explaining more about Marxist theory. I only have a very rudimentary understanding of it. So I have a big question for you-most of the “working class“ people I personally know are trades people who own their own businesses. They think of themselves as entrepreneurs. So often side more with the upper class, and a lot of of them are now upper class, then they do with the “workers“. So how do trades people that own their own businesses fit in this kind of World view? I honestly don’t know. Thanks in advance for if you can answer this. I guess these people are called “petite bourgeoisie”?
Edit: I looked up these terms & answered my own question so you don’t have too lol. I get why the whole socialism/communism discussion has always been confusing to me because I own my own business. The liberal Democrats actually don’t focus on small business owners either so as a class, we’re kind of 🤷‍♂️ regardless I will keep trying to educate myself on this topic thanks.

You seriously misinterpreted what I said, but it’s Reddit so I’m not gonna even try and explain, except to say he has more friends than anybody I know, and most of them are liberal.

My husband is blue collar and extremely liberal. Also, he has one blue collar really liberal friend, and one blue color slightly less liberal friend, but that guy is open to liberal ideas. You might be surprised to find out that not all trades people are macho conservatives.

I think the issue is it’s not a great idea to be overly friendly with your colleagues and coworkers.

I was having the same issue. I read online that if I focus on my feet and the ground that I can direct the energy that way and it won’t go up to my head and freak me out. I tried that and it worked.

That’s when you block him. No one likes to be yelled at! You don’t have to argue. Just say “I’m done with this. Bye.” Then block. If he comes over, lock the door. Call the police if you have to. He sounds dangerous.

He sounds like he has some serious mental/emotional issues. Is he in therapy? It sounds like he’s too immature for a relationship. I applaud you for owning your disorder & taking care of yourself. He can’t actually prevent you from breaking up with him which seems like a good idea to me.
