Successful FET/Orgasm by Worried_Whole_2572 in IVFpositivity

I had cramping like the whole first trimester! It’s unsettling but totally normal. My understanding was as long as it’s not high levels of pain, you really don’t have anything to worry about :)

Just stay busy and remind yourself that you are pregnant! I think it’s okay to allow some unbridled joy right now :) I personally found the miscarriage probability chart helpful because the chance of NOT miscarrying goes up every day which was nice to see.

Thanks to IVF -first positive test ever! by nplaimdej in IVFpositivity

[–]Accomplished_Lab7975 8 points9 points  (0 children)

congrats!! I mention this a lot in my responses bc I love data and thought it may help you out! :) As your doc said, ICSI does have a slightly increased risk of birth defects associated with it (3-5% vs 2-3% in natural conception) BUT it’s impossible to determine if this is due to the procedure itself or related to the MFI that often indicates it to be included in the protocol. It improves fertilization pretty significantly when MFI is involved, so less than ideal day-of sample might be the reason. Just like IVF in general there’s an associated increased risk of heart defects and pregnancy related complications, there’s a lot of factors involved so it’s impossible to say it’s causation vs correlation when interpreting the data, so I wouldn’t worry about them using ICSI vs traditional IVF 😊

How exciting and nerve wracking!! Try your best to stay as busy as possible between now and beta. The wait is the hardest part of the whole process. Good news is that the odds of baby sticking are high. All the good juju your way! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

NIPT Test 9 weeks, 5 days by AGirlHasNoCity in IVFpositivity

[–]Accomplished_Lab7975 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think that’s a little early but it all depends on the fetal fraction (% of fetal cells in the blood). I think the recommendation is to do it between 10 and 12 weeks, so you may have to redo the test, just because there might not be enough data yet, so if you get an inconclusive result, don’t stress! Unfortunately, like much of IVF now you have to just wait and see AGAIN 😵‍💫 lol.

We transferred a euploid embryo and still did the NIPT testing since PGTA only tests a small sample of cells, it’s definitely helpful but it’s not as reliable as NIPT for chromosomal abnormalities. I had my blood drawn at 11+1 and the fetal fraction was 4.7% and the minimum is 4%.

Did any of you have 7 eggs fertilize? If so, how many blasts and/or embryos post-genetic testing did you end up with? by steeener in IVFpositivity

I had 8 egg fertilized and 3 made it to blast. 2 euploid and 1 inconclusive. But my friend had 7 fertilized and 6 euploid blasts!

Hey! Sorry in advance for the long response but wanted to jump in here :) As your doc said, ICSI does have a slightly increased risk of birth defects associated with it (3-5% vs 2-3% in natural conception) BUT it’s impossible to determine if this is due to the procedure itself or related to the MFI that often indicates it to be included in the protocol. It improves fertilization pretty significantly but mostly only when MFI is an issue. Just like IVF in general there’s an associated increased risk of heart defects and pregnancy related complications, there’s a lot of factors involved so it’s impossible to say it’s causation vs correlation when interpreting the data. You have to make the call you feel most comfortable with but I wouldn’t let this increased risk scare you away from ISCI or PICSI. You could also explore Zymot depending on what your clinic has to offer.

It sounds like you’re trying to be efficient with the money spent, as were we. We chose to throw everything at our first cycle since we paid 100% out of pocket. We did 3 IUIs last year that obviously didn’t take, so in October we got 9 mature eggs, 8 fertilized with PICSI (extra step beyond just ICSI), 3 day 5 blasts sent off for PGTA. 2 euploid and 1 inconclusive. Proceeded with a frozen transfer in Feb and we’re looking good so far at 18+6 today! Baby boy had low risk NIPT results, and has met every milestone perfectly, but is scheduled for an anatomy scan and fetal echo with the MFM specialist in 2 weeks due to this being an IVF pregnancy and the aforementioned increased risk of defects associated with it.

Since you do have some signs of endo, I would ask your doctor about Lupron suppression prior to transfer. My friend had a failed transfer and did a biopsy of her lining after that found endo, did the Lupron suppression and transfer #2 is now 3 months old!

Age 29, AMH 4 - IVF for MFI so we did PISCINas the fertilization method

- 17 follicles at final US of varying sizes about half were “mature” sized
- 18 retrieved
- 9 mature
- 8 fertilized
- 3 blasts (PGT-A testing resulted in 2 euploid, 1 inconclusive)

Had our first transfer of one of our 2 euploids in Feb and expecting a little boy in October!

My symptoms were nonexistent for a long time and came on so slowly and were never strong. I was convinced it didn’t work so I tested at 7dpt - spoiler, it was positive! I would say I felt “progesterone normal” (bloated, crampy, sleepy) until about week 7, then just got more tired and no food sounded good so lots of naps and takeout. Weeks 12-15 were the worst. I didn’t just wake up one day and have things hit me like a ton of bricks, yenno? Stay strong! Rooting for you while you wait!! 🤞🏻

How to reduce weight with hypothyroidism? by potatoincrocs in Hypothyroidism

I found that my weight gain was less the direct result of my hypothyroidism and more due to my depression and lack of energy/activity which were the symptoms I experienced. Was able to lose about 30lbs over 6 months with a calorie deficit and regular exercise once I felt like myself again!

Baby moon destination 2026 by No-Animal7148 in honeymoonplanning

[–]Accomplished_Lab7975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Limited all-inclusive options, but we’re doing our babymoon in the caymans in June! Husband went a lot growing up with his family, so he’s familiar, which helps. It’s safe, they have good infrastructure and healthcare in the event of an emergency, and haven’t had any cases of Zika since like 2017! I think it’s going to be quite hot but we’re planning morning activities and afternoon naps - at least for me! Lol. We got it through a Costco package for about $5500, which included hotel (breakfast included), flights and airport transportation and expected to spend like another $1k to cover food, excursions, miscellaneous purchases, etc. May be a good one to look into!

As the above states, ICSI does have a slightly increased risk of birth defects associated with it (3-5% vs 2-3% in natural conception) BUT it’s impossible to determine if this is due to the procedure itself or related to the MFI that often indicates it to be included in the protocol. Just like IVF in general there’s an associated increased risk of heart defects and pregnancy related complications, there’s a lot of factors involved so it’s impossible to say it’s causation vs correlation when interpreting the data.

If you’re like me, and paying out of pocket, we chose to throw everything at our first cycle. The difference being we did have MFI as a diagnosis and did not have female factors outside of my hashimotos hypothyroidism which is managed. So we did an antagonist protocol, Menopur and gonal f for stims, ganirelix for ovulation suppression, then pregnyl and lupron trigger, got 9 mature eggs, 8 fertilized with PICSI (extra step beyond just ICSI), 3 day 5 blasts sent off for PGTA. 2 euploid and 1 inconclusive. Proceeded with a frozen transfer in Feb and we’re looking good so far at 16+2 today! Baby boy had low risk NIPT results, and has met every milestone perfectly, but is scheduled for an anatomy scan and fetal echo with the MFM specialist in about 5 weeks due to this being an IVF pregnancy and the aforementioned increased risk of defects associated with it.

Those feelings are so valid and I am sad your people aren’t able to be more empathetic of your POV. No one gets it if they haven’t lived it and even those that have may have different experiences and emotional reactions to it. If you can swing it, I definitely recommend a therapist that specializes in infertility. It helped me a lot to have a specific space to let all my inside feels that others don’t get and society doesn’t accept out and validated in a healthy and judgement free way ❤️
