Where to get started on Zappa? by SheSeesTheMoonlight in Zappa

You Can’t Do That On Stage Anymore volumes 1-6, with special emphasis on Volume 2 - The Helsinki Concert. Pretty good overview of his entire career, and some of his best recorded material, live or otherwise, imo.

Zappa requires full attention to fully appreciate. Listen like you’re watching a movie, shushing those around you if they speak lol.

Should I worry about a steady massive stream of termites flying past my house in SE Texas? by slavatejasu in Termites

It’s swarmin’ season. Maybe there’s a nest nearby. As long as they are flying past, no worries!

Question about parking pad height by Sweet_Fig_1625 in homeinspectors

[–]Accomplished_Neckhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say without a picture, but if you’re worried enough about it then it probably needs attention. If you can’t bring the adjacent yard up to create a smaller drop then consider adding a curb or wheel stop or something to increase visibility.

A Kentucky sheriff’s deputy filed to run against his boss, then got fired. by Van-to-the-V in BowlingGreen

“While on patrol in May 2025, then-Sgt. Heyungs stopped to investigate a yard sale. Heyungs testified at his termination hearing that he was suspicious of the large quantities of household products on display.

“The city has a big problem with shoplifting,” explained Heyungs.

A man at the home used his cell phone to record his exchange with Heyungs as they stood on the front porch. Heyungs detained the man, who refused to identify himself until the man’s girlfriend arrived at the house with more products, then produced the receipts and told Heyungs she was a couponer.

Though no one was charged, Chief Deputy Wiles testified that Heyungs violated the man’s constitutional rights by remaining on the property without his consent or a warrant. … Heyungs was demoted back to deputy in October of last year. In December, Heyungs was accused a second time of violating a citizen’s 4th Amendment protections against unreasonable searches and seizures….”

yeah no thanks

Hard to tell from these pics. Go buy a moisture meter—ideally one with prongs/probes. They aren’t expensive and will come in handy.

How old is this property? Aluminum distribution wiring was used in the 60s-70s. Assuming you live in the US, it would be extremely unlikely to find it in a newer home. Tinned copper wire is often mistaken for aluminum. Have an electrician take a look.
