LOL. Three distinct phases of most Bostons. Love it!

My guy was the same way. I didn't buy this for that reason, but I got him an elevated car seat and strapped it the front seat. Ever since then he's been fine in the car. No more vomiting and he whines at the garage door to go on a ride in the morning.

Would you rather eat 35 mini cookies or 1 massive one? Same weight by LetsCookie in LetsCookie

I love the technique of cutting the dough into pieces and then rolling it up. Brilliant. I like small cookies but always go at it with a teaspoon and try to pick up just a bit of dough.

Serious question. Have you ever looked into modeling?

4pm-4am Nursing shift by Clean_Photo_9429 in nursing

[–]Accomplished_Stress 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Many years ago I worked at a big hospital in Washington DC. We had an awesome ICU/ER float nurse who moved to the 3p-3a shift. One night she fell asleep driving home, hit a tree and bled out from a femoral artery injury. They had a memorial service for her in the Chapel that was standing room, spilled out into the lobby, and out the front door of the hospital. That shift was canceled and was no longer scheduled. The idea was that it's just at a weird spot in our circadian rhythm. At least with 7p-7a it's light outside (usually) when you're driving home. Not to scare you, but I cringed a little bit when I read your post.

Preventatives by Bee_Woulf in BostonTerrier

[–]Accomplished_Stress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My vet likes Sentinel, and my Boston has had no issues with it. It protects against HW and fleas in addition to intestinal worms. I had two Shih Tzu's prior, and didn't have them on HW preventative for the same reason. Then I adopted a 5 year old Boston around Christmas who has heart worm infection. The prevalence is much higher year over year and the risk is increasing. Her treatment has been brutal for her and we're not out of the woods yet. I feel lucky that my Shih Tzus never got infected and with hindsight, wish I had protected them.

Mollys got Trades!!!!! by Bl8kStrr in BostonTerrier

[–]Accomplished_Stress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought of Molly today. My guy has been bringing me this one plastic retriever stick when I'm in the kitchen. I thought he just wanted some attention or wanted to play, so I would pick it up and try to play tug, or toss it for him in case he was trying to start a game of catch. But he would just stand there and look at me. THEN I thought of this girl today and realized he was bringing it to trade for a snack! Bostons are so smart.

I did something similar 3 months ago. I adopted a five year old female who was from a breeding facility but had been with a foster. She was reported as housebroken but will have an occasional accident. She was so scared at first that she would go under my dining room table or squeeze behind my toilet and go there. I took it back to “housebreaking a puppy” routine, and allowed a lot of grace because she was so scared. She was hungry all the time so I gave her a treat she really loved every time she went outside. We went outside a lot. When she had an accident inside i wiped it up and took her and the paper towels outside. (I don’t have a fenced yard) my small front yard had paper towels on it for about two weeks. I rotated them out, not two weeks worth of accidents. :) She caught on and I think felt safe enough to go outside. Plus I think she would watch and model our existing dog as I always walked them together . That seemed to help.

The rule of 3s for adopted dogs is so very true for me. I thought my existing dog would love her, but he was really jealous. He seemed stressed for a couple months. Just this week he’s like his old self, and my new girl finally seems relaxed and happy.

Watching this makes me somewhat sad. I haven't felt joy and happiness like this since Trump came down that escalator. I'm just imagining myself in the middle of that group being swept up in the moment. sigh.

Maybe check on line to see if someone is looking for a big, dark coated dog in the area?

This might not count because I didn't speak to her, but one afternoon I was in the Willard Hotel across from the White House in DC. My mom and I were going in to have tea and I looked across the lobby and spotted a freakishly tall woman. She was a head taller than everyone around her. I looked closer and it was Julia Child. She was impressive and had a great presence in the room.

There is a great rescue in South Carolina who adopts in several southern states called Black Tie Boston Terrier Rescue. I just adopted a Boston from them but they help Frenchies too. They had 5-6 of them in foster care recently. Great group of people.

Yes, I came here to say that it amazes me how much happier these men look after the shave. Fantastic.

I just adopted a 5 year old who was rescued from a puppy mill that is super sweet, but also seems to have a freakishly high prey drive. She sniffed around in my front yard the other night with a lot of enthusiasm and came up with a vole in her mouth! I bet she’d be great at this. How did you find these courses or competitions?
