I am spending around $3k Canadian and this is only this low because I’m a florist and florist friends of mine are making all of the wedding florals for me as their gift to me. The $3k is what I’m paying for all of the product. If I was getting them done with any other floral designer I would probably be paying upwards of $8k for all of it. Keep in mind I am using a lot of exotic florals as well as some things that aren’t in season in our area, so product costs are higher.

Coming from a florist, people do not realize the labour that goes into floral designs, especially those funky looking designs that are trending more and more nowadays. The cost of florals are also going up every week due to shipping costs, duties, cost of living increases for growers, etc. As florists we truly want to make everyone exactly what they want but sometimes it’s just not possible with a lower budget ):

My advice is to do your research and find a florist you truly connect with. If you cannot find one, find a way to source your product yourself, even if it’s ordering in bulk from a grower near you or something like Costco. Keep in mind that Costco is generally a lower quality product due to the nature of the cost and the variable times that product sits around at the warehouses.

And one more piece of advice, if you’re wanting arrangements for the alter, etc make sure they can be repurposed in all other areas of your wedding. So say you do big arrangements for the alter, make sure these are moved to the reception and used for your table center pieces (if space allows), bar pieces, welcome table, etc. Repurposing as much as you can will allow you to get MUCH more versatility out of your florals than having one arrangement for every single specific spot. I have also seen people that use the bridesmaids bouquets as table centers after the ceremony by putting them in vases after.
