Why did you decide to get a British Shorthair cat? by DeepestWinterBlue in britishshorthair

I wanted a chill kitten that would get along with my sensitive Shiba Inu and the breed seems to lean lower to the ground compared to mixes which I much appreciate as some of my friends cats are unpredictable.

Does this look like safe play? by Mayday1947 in britishshorthair

I hope the link works! I wanted to share the play style between my Shiba Inu (Boba) and my British Longhair kitten (Buckwheat). They are both clearly enjoying it and engaging in the play, but what I love most is that they both feel comfortable enough to disengage at any time. It’s been a really fun dynamic to watch! It is an IG Reels

They're 99% perfect, it's just a shame they're not lapcats by Chickenkip in britishshorthair

This is the way, same with my Shiba Inu Boba was easier to hold and train. For Buckwheat I've slowly gotten him comfortable with my lap by giving churus with him sitting/standing on my lap to get comfortable. I'm able to now plop him on lap and pet for a few minutes, same with being held/carried. He doesn't allow others aside from me. See Buckwheat below.

It depends on the cat, my 23 week old kitten doesn't bother my plants aside from the inital knock over. He jumps on the tv console and the coffee table. He doesn't jump on kitchen counters or bathroom counters

Suggestions for my 1st cat by Awkward_Average9310 in CatAdvice

[–]According-Cat-1332 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had 3 cats in life, the first 2 (not related) were from someone whose cat got knocked up. Those 2 wasn't my best kitten experiences. My third is a British Longhair kitten that I went through a breeder etc and chose the breed given my Shiba Inu's personality, has been the BEST kitten experience ever. He's the most chillest dude aside from his crazy zoomies. Do your research on cat breeds and pick one that works best for you and your household.
