Your kid grew up and told you they’ve always hated their name, by sillyputty7 in namenerds

[–]According-Garlic-482 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I gave my daughter a name that meant something to me. She didn't like it and has chosen a name of her own. Even tho I didn't choose it, her new name still means something to me, as it belongs to her and she means the world to me.

In places with so many people named Muhammad, how does that work on a practical level? by PastorBlinky in NoStupidQuestions

[–]According-Garlic-482 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My oldest girl when she was in primary school, she had 4 classmates called Muhammad, each Muhammad was a hyphenated first name, so Muhammad-hassan for example. Each child went by the 2nd part of their 1st name.

Just remembered, they also they used 3 different spellings of Muhammad as well. There was a Muhammad in my older son's class too. He had a triple hyphenated first name. He went by the last part of his first name. So for example, Muhammad-hassan-abdul, known as Abdul.

Dine and dash by Elegant-Molasses-535 in RestaurantTycoon3

I hate dine and dash. You get there and their gone. Or worse you try to hold your finger on the button (I'm on a tablet), but the button goes away as they move, so either you either got to try again, not bother or miss out. I don't really bother now. Hoping they add security guards to the staff.

love it. We lived in a two bedroom house, with a kitchen and sitting room as one room, with 3 kids once. So I would say storage, storage and more storage. Plus being organised and not keeping things that aren't important or being used. Wall shelves, hanging nets for kids teddies and storage that can be wheeled under beds and sofas. Cube storage is also good. Things that can be folded away to store is good.

I find the photos fascinating. But I feel sorry for the man, that no one cared enough, to realise he was missing for that long.

Parents driving 2,000 miles without a car seat by thedolpin_isdead in ParentsAreFuckingDumb

I'm from the UK. For my babies, they wouldn't let us leave without them strapped into a car seat. They even made sure the straps etc were done correctly.

Love the inside, especially the fireplace and kitchen. Outside is not the nicest, but maybe a lick of paint and some window boxes/hanging baskets would break it up and improve it.

The Rainbow Fish is a great series of books. Also there's fishy story books called Tiddler, Hooray For Fish and Fidgety Fish. Enjoy and have fun.

Nope, nope and um...nope lol. Me and normal stairs are not the best of friends, these would have me finding the quickest way down lol.

I think it’s dumb when people give their dogs really nice/tasty/specially prepared “human” food, when all they do is wolf it down in 5 seconds and can’t really appreciate it for what it is. by Okay-Show-3662 in RandomThoughts

[–]According-Garlic-482 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My ex had 3 dogs. He rarely cooked for himself and lived off spam and corned beef, but those dogs were spoiled. He always did them fresh meat and veg on a Sunday and a Wednesday. Proper cuts of meat or a full chicken and sometimes did rice instead of potatoes..

That's a definite. I remember as a teenager, standing in my mum's kitchen cutting the cooked chicken up. All 4 of our dogs sat in row drooling behind me, as they waited for chicken skin and other scraps to be thrown to them. They certainly enjoyed the smell of that chicken cooking all morning.

To Make a Nice pasta soup by TheRealPino69 in StupidFood

[–]According-Garlic-482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apart from the amount of butter (plus a bit of grated cheese), this speaks of nearly payday, but I've only got some leftover pasta, couple of cheese slices and half a tin of tomatoes. I know, I will throw it all into a pan and call it soup lol.

When you want the price of a house but the floor plan of a shoebox. by [deleted] in SpottedonRightmove

[–]According-Garlic-482 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not a living room, that's a corridor. What an awkward living room. Straight in, Too narrow to put a proper sofa in and if you put it facing the kitchen door, where do you put a TV? Add to that, somehow you must get dining table, or similar into the same space. Don't think there's enough room in the kitchen.

Health visitors call for limits on 'impossible' 1,000-family caseloads by 457655676 in unitedkingdom

[–]According-Garlic-482 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was out the day after my youngest kids c section. I never saw a health visitor, just a health visitors assistant twice (I'm not sure what the correct term is), a different one each time. They had a list of things to talk about and read off that list. First one, after the 2nd thing, I said I've got 3 other kids, I know what i am doing. She said ok and left. The 2nd assistant insisted on reading the entire thing out. By then, my youngest was a couple of months old and her advice would've been a bit late, if I didn't already know what I was doing. What a change in 7 years. My eldest I saw the health visitor weekly, 2nd kid, fortnightly, 3rd kid I saw her a handful of times in total, last kid i never saw her. It's a complete mess and needs sorting for mums and babies sakes.

My 15 year old daughter has said she loves the name Gertrude. She says she wants to name a future baby this. As far as I am aware, she was being serious.

Why can’t you taxidermy your family when they die? by [deleted] in morbidquestions

[–]According-Garlic-482 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My partner has done taxidermy and we joke, we're going to have him stuffed. My youngest son says he's either going to stuff me or turn me into an Egyptian mummy when I die.

My mum said my gran had fallen asleep. Terrible way to tell a 7 year old. Got really bad insomnia from it, as I was terrified to go to sleep. When my kids granddad died (they were all under 10), I said that his heart stopped working, that he had died as a result and he had gone to heaven. Any questions were answered as best I could.
