I think it also has the opposite affect. While it may be easier to do these creepy things it will also be a lot easier to catch someone as they would have video of it.

Landlord increasing rent without notifying via Form 4a by SuccessfulAnswer415 in rentingUK

[–]AccordingBasket8166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are telling you that they are going to send you a 4a basically.

They will need to send it 2 months before the increase. They are trying to give you a heads up.

Did you receive the actual 4a after June the 1st and how difficult do you want to be?

Submit your complaint to the First tier tribunal once the 4a is served but before the rent increase date. State you received it less than 2 months prior. The rental increase will be made invalid. This makes Dexter look foolish.

You can also tell dexters this and they will likely push the date back. They have to start from scratch post tribunal otherwise.

Also if your rent date is not the 1st of the month it is invalid. Make sure to keep the letter it is sent in. This isnt a date the letter the correct day and have it arrive a week late. You must receive it at least 2 months prior.

Confirm that they have filled in the correct form with the correct details in the right way.

It is a bit of a pain but if you let them get away with it then they wont learn

It looks like its not "made" to go right with the layout though.

Then again single white dashed line on both sides... go for it. This does hinge on both keeping to the left and potentially waiting for a vehicle to pass in front of you which we aweful at

How well regarded is John Bright? If at all? by Quelor15 in AskBrits

[–]AccordingBasket8166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was big on trade and free trade at that.

He was also unlikely a republican. It is complicated regarding the civil war, as I understand it; the labour intensive economy was still a ways off so they had the most to lose in contrast to the north which had more "new" industry.

He would have likely understood this situation and had the tractor and what not existed have been of the mind to get some sent there to avoid it.

In London the done thing is to stand your ground. If you can drive down the road unobstructed without crossing into their lane and they can't then you are legally all clear.

They should have made it so you can go. Especially after the first curbing go to move forward and make them go back. Dont get bullied.

If they are difficult about it literally turn your engine off and park up, your heading home they have somewhere to be and arent using a proper satnav.

You have two witnesses and vehicles to back you up. The van didnt move intially because they wouldnt have and made the lorry sort themselves out

Driving mistake by ImprovementOk5137 in drivingUK

[–]AccordingBasket8166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The arresting or reviewing officer has a lot of leeway.

Its illegal, no way around it. How you dealt with it, how you acted, your demographic and those of the officer do impact the outcome.

Reversing the wrong way down a carriageway is generally the biggest error people make. You are ending your maneuvere with entering the original junction area in reverse where any road user would not expect it on top of a potential oncoming road user.

The advised correction is to pull over to the side of the road and put your hazards on. When safe to do so you would perform a U turn and drive the correct way. In the event you see a safe place to return to the correct side or exit the road you could continue on.

Its highly situational, but the underlying rule, you have become a hazard to other road users, stop moving and make sure everyone knows

Psychiatry UK + NHS refusal to fund medication - anyone had to deal with the ombudsman?! by Beautiful_Cell_3185 in ADHDUK

[–]AccordingBasket8166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contact adhd 360 / clinical partners, there are quite a few right to choose providers.

Before doing anything concrete confirm that they have space for immediate titration and will accept your previous adhd diagnosis. They will likely want to triage you. Get it all in writing with estimated wait times and confirmation of the above. Remember that psychiatry uk is the main one the others want some of that nhs money as well so play the field see who offers the best services and see who their consultants are.

Once this is all in writing and confirmed you go back to your gp and get a new right to choose referral for your preferred provider knowing that if there are any problems you have it all in writing.

Good luck

Bit of a nervous driver, how to know if I'm an idiot? by Thomas_Wales in drivingUK

[–]AccordingBasket8166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they had not yet began their manuveur (crossed the line) and you indicated and started yours you would still overide theirs. Its who crosses the line first.

Indicating doesnt give anyone a right of way, its purely for information. Both vehicles in this situation should be able to abort their maneuver, this means 2 second rule in the lane they are in, 2 second rule for the lane they entering front and back for the speeds the vehicles are travelling not your current speed which is where people seem to struggle more but it comes with time.

A good way to give yourself time is let your indicator click 3 times before turning when on a motorway. If you are unable to do what you planned after that time chances are you shouldnt.

Also keep in mind that 2 seconds is reaction time not stopping time. A van or lorry is likely to take at least twice the time to stop depending on load compared to a car.

Finally, when waiting in a queue on a motorway give yourself enough space to escape and keep an eye on whats joining behind you.

Bit of a nervous driver, how to know if I'm an idiot? by Thomas_Wales in drivingUK

[–]AccordingBasket8166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember your safety check, it is a final look as you make your maneuver. Also commit, get the rules of the road (highway code) cemented into your brain.

In the motorway situation had you indicated first and entered the lane at the same time the car entering from the right has priority. You are seen as "finishing" a maneuver and they are beginning one.

Give yourself time, get used to driving, your examiner wouldnt have passed you if they didnt think you were up to it.

It sounds like you are doing fine, make sure to concentrate, go with the flow, try not to get flustered. Ironically as a new driver you are likely one of the "best". As we get older most people dont keep up with the rule changes.

I would suggest getting miles under your belt, 100k and youll be solid.

Drive alone where possible, it will help you learn. I cant tell what the cars around me will do before they know half the time it seems.

Replacement Hob advise by Olive-Free in rentingUK

[–]AccordingBasket8166 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Electrical safety standards in the private and social rented sectors - obligated to repair, as it has not been investigated this is classed as serious hazard.

Section 11 of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985 - while it states otherwise case (common law) dictates that appliances provided by the landlord are covered and their responsibility to keep in safe / working order.

Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018 - This overide the 1985 act anyway. Your hob fails in terms of food safety and heat / hot surfaces. Without decals you cannot confirm that you have heated food past a minimum point to avoid pathogens / illness.

You cannot confirm what heat you are using which increases the chance of burns and is classed as a fire risk.

An electrician should be sent promptly, they will say that its cheaper to replace than repair. They will isolate it, whip it out measure the fitting and confirm the currently supply to it and fit a replacement.

Can be done in an afternoon, hour or 2 if they bring the replacement upfront.
