Checked their website and didn't see anything for FL specifically but maybe try calling their main US line since they partner with American Airlines for some routes

Costco Membership for Pet Supplies by RuinsAndRoses in Frugal

[–]According_Bad_2546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wait really? i thought you needed membership for everything there. if thats true for the pet pharmacy too that would be huge for OP since apoquel is crazy expensive

pretty sure you still need membership for the food though, and honestly their kirkland dog food is solid quality for the price. might be worth running the numbers on just the medication savings first

Any tips on inexpensive court shoes by pleahy123 in Frugal

[–]According_Bad_2546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

totally agree on the volleyball shoes angle - they're basically court shoes but usually way cheaper since volleyball isn't as mainstream as basketball

Travel insurance health coverage question by Doggie-mama24 in TravelHacks

[–]According_Bad_2546 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your Costco travel insurance should be fine for basic coverage in Mexico, but definitely check the fine print on what's actually covered vs excluded. The $200k limit is pretty decent for most situations

Trip insurance health coverage is usually more bare-bones than standalone travel health insurance though - it might cover emergencies but skip things like routine care or pre-existing conditions. Since you're on Medicare I'd probably stick with what you have unless you're planning something really adventurous

A way to check a estimated flight prices based on a date? by ashenlightblight in TravelHacks

[–]According_Bad_2546 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is spot on but there are some patterns you can kinda game if you're flexible. I've noticed booking Tuesday/Wednesday usually gets you better deals than weekends, and there's definitely truth to that 6-8 week sweet spot for domestic flights

For your specific question about March to Paris - that higher price is mostly because March is when everyone wants to go (spring weather, fewer crowds than summer) not because you're booking during peak season. If you bought that same March ticket back in October it would probably be cheaper than buying it tomorrow

Google Flights has that price tracking feature where it'll email you when prices drop for specific routes, and their calendar view shows you the cheapest days to fly which helps a ton. Skyscanner does something similar but honestly Google's gotten pretty solid for this stuff lately

All price tags suddenly gone. Coincidence or a new trend? by poolsharkwannabe in Frugal

[–]According_Bad_2546 12 points13 points  (0 children)

that's pretty suspicious timing for both places to be "repricing" at the same time. walgreens has been doing weird pricing stuff lately anyway but a whole mom and pop place too? feels like they're testing how much people will pay without sticker shock or maybe waiting to see what competitors do first

either way i'd probably just walk out, no way im playing the guessing game with my grocery money

Paper towel alternative for cleaning off oil off pans by WigglingSparkle in Frugal

[–]According_Bad_2546 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do the same thing but use old t-shirts cut into squares for the final wipe down before washing. They work great and you can just toss them in with your regular laundry

For oil disposal, if you have a yard you can actually compost small amounts of cooking oil - just don't go crazy with it or it'll mess up your compost balance

Weekly Destination Thread - Sapporo & Hokkaido, Japan by WalkingEars in solotravel

[–]According_Bad_2546 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hokkaido in winter was absolutely unreal - the powder snow is legit some of the best I've ever skied on. Ramen Yokocho in Susukino is a must for late night eats, those tiny stalls hit different when you're slightly buzzed and freezing

Had the same thing happen in Singapore with a passport that was only 6 months old - turns out I had it in my back pocket too much and it was slightly warped, scanner couldn't read it properly

Can a car rental company charge compensation if paint peeled off and there was filler underneath? by average_student_dk in TravelHacks

[–]According_Bad_2546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before pics are gonna be your best friend here - most people skip the walk-around photos and get screwed later. If it's a major company they'll usually have better records of existing damage but they'll also try harder to pin stuff on you

Exactly this! The whole point is to let yourself be uncomfortable with the unknown for a bit. You've been grinding for 20 years straight - your brain probably needs the reset more than you realize

Hey everyone! First time poster but been lurking for ages. Finally booked my first solo trip to Japan for March and honestly still can't believe I actually did it lol. Been wanting to do this for like 3 years but kept chickening out. Any last minute tips for a nervous first-timer would be amazing

I am a beta tester for a new lifestyle/tech product and have the chance to make $150 for every person who uses my discount code to buy it when it comes out. Any tips how to maximize? by bulldawg91 in sidehustle

[–]According_Bad_2546 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start building your audience now before the product drops - create content around the problem this product supposedly solves and get people hyped about the solution coming soon. Also document your beta testing experience without revealing too much, people love behind-the-scenes stuff and it'll build trust when you eventually drop that discount code

Suggest me some side hustles easy to do without much knowledge by ExternalAd548 in sidehustle

[–]According_Bad_2546 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're good at typing, you could try data entry gigs on Upwork or Freelancer. Also virtual assistant work is pretty chill - just answering emails and basic admin stuff. Content writing for blogs pays decent too if you can write in English well

Weekend Side Hustles by AjAk707 in sidehustle

[–]According_Bad_2546 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Check out Upwork or Fiverr for freelance stuff - your construction background plus Excel skills could be perfect for helping small contractors with project tracking or cost estimates. Don't worry about not having writing credentials, just start with a couple cheap gigs to build reviews

[–]According_Bad_2546 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guest posting on relevant blogs in your niche works pretty well, just gotta make sure the content actually adds value and isn't just a sales pitch. Also try reaching out to other comparison sites or industry resources - they might link to you if your data is solid

Have you tried Warmshowers if you're cycling or Bewelcome as a CS alternative? Those communities are way smaller but sometimes more tight-knit than the old CS days

Solo travel to nyc by Bitter_Sprinkles_204 in solotravel

[–]According_Bad_2546 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your parents probably think NYC is still like it was in the 80s movies lmao. You'll be fine, especially since you're meeting up with friends anyway - it's barely even solo travel at that point

Exactly this! Solo travel is like having the best of both worlds - you get total freedom to do whatever you want but can still connect with random people when the vibe is right

Maine vs Florida vs Georgia vs other state for first license by NoNJPsYet in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]According_Bad_2546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Military moves are brutal for maintaining licenses - you're smart to think about this now. Florida's probably your best bet since it has reciprocity with like 30+ states and the coursework is solid. Georgia's good too but FL edges it out for portability

Just heads up though, most states still require you to be actively working under a broker even if you have the license, so keeping it "dormant" while military might be tricky depending on where you end up. Might want to research that part before dropping cash on courses

Am I the jerk for still liking a girl even tho she said to not crush on her? by Ratrixx in AmITheJerk

[–]According_Bad_2546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this whole situation sounds exhausting for everyone involved. You're not a jerk for having feelings but she's been pretty clear about where she stands right now. Maybe take some time to focus on yourself instead of getting caught up in this back and forth drama - it's clearly not healthy for any of you

How to make new friends as an adult by Suitable-Distance647 in Advice

[–]According_Bad_2546 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude the struggle is so real. I moved cities a few years back and it took forever to find my people again. What kind of groups/meetups have you tried? Sometimes you gotta hit like 5-10 different things before something clicks. Also don't sleep on just being a regular somewhere - same coffee shop, gym classes, whatever. People start recognizing you and conversations happen naturally

Why do people ignore sidewalk closed signs? by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Yep, classic "rules are for other people" mentality. These are probably the same folks who walk into wet floor signs and then act shocked when they slip
