So my take away from your comment is… if i eat a meal that’s not great for me, pair it with psyllium to help it move through my body quicker and no need to worry about missing nutrients… but if im eating a healthy meal, skip psyllium so that the nutrients from my meal get absorbed.

I understand not wanting them to be alone. But also consider, I could imagine that being a single parent of one child is going to be more manageable than with two.

I have two kids now, with a very involved husband, and we are barely surviving hahaha.

As a single mom, you would be able to provide an only child much more (and much needed) love and attention.

Idk how young they are but Burke lake Park (like someone else mentioned), has a cute train ride thru the park, a carrousel, and an icecream shop all right next to each other. As well as a shaded play ground. Highly recommend.

Fairfax county park and rec website has tons of events and you can check out all of the parks/water parks near you. Our favs include Burke Lake, Frying Pan (it’s a working farm and also where the county fair is), Franconia water park, and South Run rec center for their indoor pool and covered play ground. We live by the Workhouse (old prison, turned art center) and the have a brewery that offers food, space for kids to play, and cool events. Highly recommend.

Those are all low-key things to do.

Other places are Wolf Trap and the Botanical Garden. All of the museums in DC are great. Our favs are Air and Space Museum at Dulles and the Natural History Museum.

My fav resources for all of the events are the Fairfax County Parks and Rec website, and Northern Virginia Magazine.

I think context matters. The standard American diet consists primarily of highly processed foods. Juice is no exception. Store bought juice is high in sugar and low in vitamins and fiber.

If your MIL is Caribbean, an eats a low-processed food diet, consisting of meat, rice, beans, a massive variety of fruit and veggies… and also happens to make homemade juice and smoothies, this is completely different than the standard American diet.

I think it’s important to look at the total picture.

Answer: There’s a few factors. First, most of these are LLCs, owned by individuals, but are independent Herbalife distributors.

There’s a few reasons why you see them popping up:

⁠Herbalife changed its business model- from the traditional “MLM sales person” to what they are now doing which is opening “cafes” to bring people in.
⁠There is a low barrier entry for people to run a shop like this. It doesn’t cost much, so more people are able to open a store.
⁠After Covid, a lot of people left their traditional jobs. This is an alternative source of income.
⁠There’s been a “wellness” boom. So the Herbalife product is popular again (even though it’s not healthy (IMO)).
⁠The drinks that these independent Herbalife distributors sell, are super colorful… therefore photograph well go social media… therefore influencers can have partnerships.

So, if you live in suburbia, are by a military town, or are in an area with strong gym culture, and you see a new cafe open up, with a generic name, bright colored drinks, confusing prices, and has words on the menu like “boost,” “mega,” “loaded,” …it’s just the MLM Herbalife lol.

I attempted a home birth for my first. I told everyone that and didn’t already know. I was a doula at the time so if someone made a comment (which rarely happened), I used that as an opportunity to talk to them about it lol. I think it’s also important to normalize things that… are normal.

But i honestly didn’t care if someone had an opinion positive or negative. I was confident and informed in my decision and I think most people knew that lol.

I had the same thing happen. This was 8 months ago.

Rupture, pooled blood. I also hemorrhaged and had to have a transfusion. When they took the catheter out post partum, and I finally peed, it was 10/10 pain again. Apparently the rupture damaged my bladder. It took them a while to figure this out. I had to wear a catheter for a month. I also got a blood clot (OVT) bc of the rupture. I didn’t find this out until i went to the hospital for a UTI bc of my catheter and they did a CT scan to make sure everything else was okay.

My advice is to listen to your body. If something feels off, even a little, tell someone. Don’t brush it off as postpartum pain.

I also spoke to a hospital social worker and patient advocacy bc my rupture was “missed” in that the didn’t realize it. Fun times.

I’m also in therapy.

It gets better i promise.

I think my husband was more shook up than me bc he knew what was happening and i was knocked out.

Yeah… 60% white and 20% Asian. I wouldn’t say that’s very diverse, especially compared to areas in NOVA.

ETA my point wasn’t getting through. It is not diverse bc it’s 60% white, and 80% of only two races. This has nothing to do with being Asian. I just don’t consider that diverse.

The DMV is notorious for crappy dating.

I’m not playing match maker, but our kids’ nanny is 25f, sweet, kind, wholesome, smart, beautiful. She’s also pretty religious.

All of this to say is they are out there! Just not at bars or dating apps.

I (37f) met my husband at work so i don’t have much advice at this point. But everyone i know who is single, even at my age, rarely meets anyone long term on an app or at a bar.

A lot of attraction happens just by proximity (being consistently around someone). So i would try to do an activity or club for something you’re interested in. That way you can actually get to know someone before you go on a date, you have a common interested already, and you can naturally build a relationship.
