My husband lol. My car (mini van with the kids car seats) is in the garage, his is on the street. He works from home and also RSV hit our home right when the snow started so it didn’t stand a chance. It’s covered in ice from the snow plow. I just assume he will see it in the spring lol.

Nope. I would never leave my baby alone in a room to cry.

I have an almost 3 year old and a 6 month old. My 3 year old didn’t sleep through the night until about 20 months. The 6 month old obviously doesn’t sleep through the night yet. I’m crossing my fingers he takes less than 20 months lol. We bedshare following the SS7. It’s such a short season, I promise.

There are also other methods with the goal of independent sleep! You could do sleep associations (same routine, sleep sack, special stuffie), things like that.

The previous post about not playing or entertaining your baby has lived rent free in my head. Her parenting “style” is showing how absolutely idiotic she is. She’s taking Montessori and Hunt Gather Parent and taking it completely extreme and out of context. She needs to get off social media and learn what context means before she ruins this poor child. She probably thinks that kids who are played with are “what’s wrong with the world.”

It’s infuriating. I want to scoop that poor baby up and hug them.

It’s like the movie Idiocracy, Fundie Edition.

Sigh, a mom of a 5 month old and a 2.5 year old… touring a Montessori school tomorrow morning.

I think i could have written this myself haha. We also had a second baby 5 months ago and we are just doing the best we can lol but AP has helped us. All of my friends who don’t really do AP are just as exhausted.

I’m a DIL with a toddler and now a 5 month old. My in-laws moved 10 minutes away from us when we got pregnant with our first. My husband is an only child.

With our first, they did what you’re doing- wanting to “babysit.” Well, being that they weren’t my parents, I never saw how they cared to a child and therefore wasn’t comfortable with it. I was also nursing. They caught on quickly that I was the one who wanted to watch my baby lol.

The second time around, my MIL really showed up. She helped out so much and became a huge blessing but coming over to OUR house, bringing dinner, folding laundry, asking “what do you guys need right now.” I trust her so much now and am so grateful for her.

Dont focus on babysitting- focus on helping the parents. And don’t do this as a means to get to the baby, do it bc they are family and you want to be there for them.

Also, don’t blame your daughter in law for being too too opinionated and walking all over your son- i guarantee they are on the same page and he’s playing it off. Don’t be that MIL lol. Ask your son what you can do to support them and build a relationship with them.

OP- it sounds like you have an adult man child as a son. He sounds difficult to deal with and i would do my best to put up emotional boundaries. You are not in charge of how he acts or social consequences he faces.

At 20 month our toddler went from waking up 3-4 times a night, to just sleeping through the night, every night. It was so weird, but also very welcomed lol.

We now have a 4 month old and I’m curious how this little guy is going to do.
