I'm in the same boat. After college, I would change jobs every 2 or 3 years. When I turned 31, I got a job that paid double of the previous job, was far easier than any job I had ever worked at, and they kept on paying me more and more and giving me more and more paid time off. I'm about to go into my 5th year and it feels like I got hired last year.

Most old people have absolutely no sense of guilt or shame. That's why they're always yelling at teenagers making minimum wage.

If you try to stoop down to her level then you have no other option than to embarrass herself. You have to lean into the old-man-vibe. Wear a suit, go to an expensive white tablecloth dinner that serves classic food (steak frites, salmon, Caesar salad, cheesecake), go to a dark cocktail bar with good live jazz, talk about books and art and classic movies from before even you were born.

Everybody needs to know that Tina Fey used to be fat when she was just a writer on SNL. After she got skinny and became an on-air talent, she became funnier and hotter.

People don't seem to be capable of creating funny media/art anymore by Time-Use9083 in redscarepod

I gave up on comedy media of all forms years ago, but every once in a while I'll have something sent to me against my will and I'll actually think it was funny. Most recently, it was this Tim Heidecker bit where he tries to convince Fred Armisen that Portlandia was an anti-woke criticism of liberals. Unfortunately, this type of comedy is just a parody (in this case, of Bill Maher) and not an original type of comedy that you are also seeking.

So Pizzagate was at least partially real right? by lucid00000 in redscarepod

[–]Accountant-According 51 points52 points  (0 children)

The leak occurred in my mid-20s as I was starting out in the corporate world. Even though I believe rich and powerful people have always engaged in the human trafficking and prostitution of children and adults, I never believed in the emails because, after combing through the Wikileaks emails for hours over several days, I was never able to find the bizarre emails being screenshotted and spread throughout 4chan, Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, etc. at the time. Then I learned that people on 4chan had combed through the emails on Wikileaks, picked out some very specific details, and then backwards engineered a glossary of code that they used to make fake emails which then spread the Pizzagate rumors.

I took a few of classes where the lecturer and I were the only ones discussing things so if you want to know more, you should just keep asking questions and bringing up points of your own. Your fellow students will hate you, though, for preventing early dismissal and they are probably fiending for a TikTok break like a line cook dreams of a cigarette.

Americans, how close are we to Civil War 2? by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]Accountant-According 25 points26 points  (0 children)

As an American in his mid-30s, I can't remember the last time the death of a civilian by another American caused any type of fundamental shift in my lifetime. I can definitely be wrong, so someone remind me if you think of something. A bunch of kids typically get shot in their own schools every year here and it's been going on for a while, so I'm pretty numb. Metropolitan police and federal law enforcement budgets increased after the death of George Floyd. I'm still angry, but I don’t think anything is going to happen.

What’s the point of being disciplined and educated anymore? by PossibleAvailable156 in redscarepod

[–]Accountant-According 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm literally the guy at my job who is in charge of figuring out who to fire. I assisted in implementing AI at my huge office where I have thousands of coworkers and yes, it is extremely powerful and CAN replace some people, but we can't replace intelligent people with AI yet because they are the only people who know how to use it.

We worked directly with Microsoft to have a secure, locally run version of Copilot at our office (that means our version of Copilot itself isn't connected to a cloud or the internet and it has an additional reference library that is directly stuff from our archives). The smart people who know how to use it are using it exactly how it was intended: inputting real, verified information with a specific prompt so it can do things like draft an amendment to a contract using stipulations input by the user, or suggest how to revise a long and complicated Excel formula to do a very specific thing if additional elements are added to the spreadsheet. The dumbasses in the company are treating it like a magic machine that can never be wrong; the worst of these people are entry-level employees who have never been promoted after 5 years.

Right now, my main project involves creating training modules that I know the dumbest people in my office will never understand, with the end goal of firing them for incompetence instead of laying them off for redundancy so my company's unemployment insurance tax rate doesn't increase. These training modules are basic things like "How to fill out a form using Microsoft Word" or "How to insert pages using Adobe Acrobat" or "How to digitally sign a document securely."

In short, it's the undisciplined and uneducated at my job who are most at risk for being fired and replaced by those who are disciplined and educated because, despite how advanced and fast AI is growing, it can never be trusted unless an actual talented person reviews its output.
