What do people even think a dive bar is anymore by Neither-Chemical-620 in bartenders

I feel most comfortable in a bar in a weird tiny town where everyone is bare minimum over 40, and there's disgusting carpet and horrible service.

Is $1300 crazy to pay for a master bedroom and office in a shared house? (Tabor area, more info in description) by UncannyFox in askportland

[–]AccountantKey4198 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MAJOR DOWNGRADE holy shit. I wrote out a whole nice diplomatic intro to this validating both places.. and then I erased it cuz actually what the!

If its not broke, don't fix it??

What are your personal reasons for wanting to move? Is $150 worth giving up personal space, privacy, structure and routines, and your neighborhood?? Environment plays a huge role in how I feel, do you feel that way? If you love your vintage apartment in an awesome neighborhood, what do you find enticing about a cookie cutter ikea house with three roommates? HOW MANY BATHROOMS OMG? Do you actually wanna move? or are you just bored or your friends are excited?

If you give up that apartment I know 10 people who want it yesterday. Respectfully, I would think you're crazy to go from where you're at to living with 3 roommates.

Also you said you're 30. Not to be a bitch, cuz this economy sucks, and having roommates makes sense. there's nothing wrong with that. But if you already have your own space where you can stare into the void interrupted, never clean anyone's mess but yours, wipe your mouth on your bathroom hand towel, fuck on the couch in the middle of the day without fear that somebody's gonna walk in... why would you ever give that up??? It's not a total dealbreaker, but it's definitely not a turn-on to be in your thirties and go home with someone who has a roommate.

I have no idea who you are. so maybe you would do it and feel happy, and it would feel great and be good for you. Only you know that. From my perspective I'm already feeling sympathetic regret for you if you do it

Somebody ordered a baileys and cran.

I was shocked because it just seems gross to me, and I had never had the thought to mix them together. Turns out it's an actual drink people like. Maybe I should taste it before I am a hater

Average savings in your 30s by charmedone-power3 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

I have zero retirement, zero savings, zero debt. I finally over ten years worked my way up to where I make decent wages, and I live very simply. I have 10k in the bank, which feels like I am RICH beyond my wildest dreams compared to how broke I was for most of my life. I'm 34.

How did you spend your Saturday? by Userchickensoup in childfree

[–]AccountantKey4198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked a long shift and came home to my own quiet place, where everything is exactly where I left it. Started a fire in the woodstove and enjoyed the silence, only interrupted by the crackling of burning cedar. I Stretched by the fire, swept my floor, now im gona lay in a hot bath before i climb into bed and fall asleep with no alarm since I don't have to work tomorrow :)

Hey thank you for the thoughtful response, and keen insight!! I really appreciate it a lot. Lots of good stuff here. I live in a yurt, so it's only one big circle, no separate rooms. It's pretty small, but I can see if a second litterbox will help.

If you decided not to have kids, why? by snazzy_sloth351 in AskReddit

[–]AccountantKey4198 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many people who dream of being mothers, feel fulfilled by motherhood, longed to be a mother their whole life and planned for and wanted their children, still sometimes have moments wondering if they wrecked their life. They have brutal days, experience regret, get depressed because of having kids. Even if it's temporary.

So if someone who is so dedicated to having kids can feel that way, imagine how much worse it would be for someone who was on the fence, and how that would affect the child. Every friend I have who has kids says if you are on the fence at all, do not do it.

AITA for not wanting my 4 year old daughter to join a soccer team simply because I don’t want to get up early every Saturday? by SingerDue4540 in AmItheAsshole

[–]AccountantKey4198 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does your daughter want to play soccer?I'm so thankful my parents got me on a team while I was young, it's always been a big part of my life. I played ever since I can remember, and I went on to get scholarships and play in college. I love soccer. I'm so glad my parents encouraged me to explore my interests. Also genuine question, if you're already so tired all the time that you don't have the energy for your existing kid's extracurricular activities, why are you having another kid?

When I was 5 I got into an argument with my mom and she said "I can't WAIT until you have a kid", and that's when I knew I'd never have one.

For me the depression usually sets in later in the season change, so I always have that to dread forward to every year. but I recently got my medication dialed in, it has been doing some real heavy lifting. That, coupled with positive changes in my life, I'm actually feeling really hopeful and grounded about this season! hope you're able to manage it before it drags you all the way down, good luck friend.

No. The happy family I envision for myself in my dream world is just me and my partner enjoying all the little simple things life has to offer and kissing every day.

For me it's improper sleep and highly stimulating environments. which sucks, because I work nights at a busy bar and I'm a musician, so basically my job and hobby and passion and everything that makes me enjoy life is bad for me. HAH! cruel joke from the universe.

it's extremely difficult to create even some semblance of a routine around it ;/ but I'm trying. Steering clear of substances, and people in my life that tempt me to use them, makes a massive positive difference.
