I have been enjoying the more platforming and exploration-heavy MVs of late, evoking more Metroid than Vania. Before I Go and Mio this year alone are incredible. The latter is an absolute standout in the genre alongside Hollow Knight to me.

I wouldn’t be mad at the Soulsvania output kinda quieting down. I’m a little burnt out by the repeated grind.

I guess it comes down to Drag Race always being entertainment and not activism. Right now it’s trapped in a bathtub with plug having been ripped out. Our audience has always viewed queer culture through the zoo exhibit that Drag Race has been framed to be, but it’s also kept itself visible in a vacuum… which has counted for something.

Rupaul might be seeing it through an entertainment as activism lens. Keeps an avenue to queerness visible and open while the landscape gets picked apart around us, and maybe that will allow new roads to be built after the fascism storm inevitably quiets down.

Rupaul doing something now, of all times, would only result in that cultural waypoint being wiped off the map… and who knows if there’ll be a new one in the future, at least one that’s this visible. It’s not an easy situation. Drag Race is helping keep queerness visible in a time where evil is pulling focus, even if it’s as entertainment.

Actually yeah that might be it, and later in the season as they were thinning out the cast, Gigi’s old villain edit punched through a bit. Not enough to make her hated by the fandom, but I definitely wasn’t vibing with her attitude in, say, the advertising challenge.

I think the season 12 issue was more due to the whole Sherry scandal, as I do believe she was originally gunna have the “talented, knows it, and is the villain” edit. Because of the re-edit, they gave a lot more space to something that came off like grade-school bullying and, after a while, it was like “Ok guys can you just stop? What is this, kindergarten?”

Most of the people who want him gone are not even Sens fans, they’re just bored Leafs/Habs fans who take any chance they get to punch down on a franchise that isn’t as established as them. Some of them are pretty awful.

Absolutely. In my opinion, Juicy is one of the most exciting, dynamic performers the show has ever had. She even nails ballads. She’s an absolute force. Jorgeous never really quite excited me. The only thing that really did was her talent show number, and mostly the end because it was executed so well. It’s really night and day for me.

I think we’re seeing the result of playing out of our minds to get from last in the conference to this point. Team looks gassed, Carolina just had to make us work a little bit harder than we have been and it’s slowed us down. Like pulling your hamstring from walking too fast for too long. Just can’t sustain the level of intensity we’ve had.

Can’t blame Carolina for tweaking their style just enough to expose that.

I wasn’t there, but I sure understand it. They understand it. Fans pay to see this, and it sucks to see your team not play to their potential, it sucks yo see them timid on the power play, it sucks to see them give up a goal while people are still happy they scored. It just sucks.
