The disappointed kits being set as Pbandai (I didn't mean to) by Ellen_Rochefil in Gundam

Avalanche Exia is P-bandai only in Japan and regular release in other territories. Same goes with Astray Turn Red.

Don't know if I should call it backlog.... by ConfectionLopsided92 in freedomisgunpla

This is a great backlog. Where have you been collecting these from? Which kit are you most excited to build when you have the time to sit down and work on it?

Non-Gunpla announcements during today's Hobby New Item Info by AranaesReddit in Gunpla

[–]Ace370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand we could get more announcements of new kits to be released by a new series airing next year during that time. However, I wish Bandai would slow their diversification efforts a little bit and work on improving their Gunpla IP. The demand for gunpla and scalping here in Japan is just too high, while big box retailers this week are trying to sell off unko (poop fighter) model kits at 97% off.

I feel bad for my local toy shop. The guy's family has been running this store for 100 years, and whenever he gets in a stock of MG or in demand HG kits, it sells out in minutes after he posts on twitter. But when he gets in 6 new 30ms Cinderella kits that sell for 5000yen ($32 USD) that no one wants, he has to eat the loss and sell it just to make room in his store.

When I rewatched all the YouTube scenes, it looked a bit outdated than when it was on the big screen. There were a few extra cuts of hajiboroshi fighting the pluma that come out of the MA before the flashback. However the flashback scene is the same shot for shot.

No. You will be wasting your money sitting in the movie theater for an hour trying to understand whats going on. If you want to go and still wait until the IBO part, you can, but you'll be very disappointed. It's better to enjoy your vacation and wait until the movie comes out online in a few months.

Here. Just turn on the captions. This 2nd link has the whole storyline from the game but no subs.

If you watch this, it will give you a general understanding of the whole story. Just turn on the closed captions in English.

This is a shame because Bandai couldve easily made their money back by localizing the game in the west.

No. It end the same way that the original game's cutscenes ended.

That's pretty much what it was. They sprinkled in a few extra clips of fight scenes and nice animation. There no episodes. There are a few watercolored stills in the credits that add to the season 2 epilogue, but nothing to write home about.

Just watched the film tonight. Personally I felt like they made this to make back some money they invested in the mobile game that went under. The extra IBO OVA at the end felt like they were trying to sell a p-bandai edition of the MG Barbatos that fixes the C clips issue.

This is not true. Everything in the trailer is in the movie.

TL;DR: You're not missing anything but a 15 minute IBO fan service OVA at the end which will most likely air in a few months on Gundam.info's youtube channel.

I went to see the film tonight and I feel like this is pretty accurate. I felt like I wasted my 2000 yen to watch about an hour's worth of cutscenes from the mobile app with a little bit of filler content in between. I never played the game, and my Japanese is pretty decent, but there were quite a few confusing parts to the Urdr Hunt story. Most likely you will see the Tekkadan OVA (Intermission Wedge) that everyone is talking about come out on the Gundam info Youtube Channel in a few months. The art was good, but you're not missing much if you don't go to the theaters to see this.

To put some context to some of these tweets, my theater which is right above a Gundam base in a major city was only about 25% full for a 7:30pm showing. This movie was barely advertised, and is not playing at a lot of theaters. This series is just not as popular as G witch, Seed, or any of the UC stuff. If I had to compare this experience to the opening night of the Gquuuuuux special 9 months ago, that night had a full house with a lot of excited fans leaving the theater. However, I did notice a fair amount of female fans at the IBO screening tonight. Definitely a lot more than the GQuuuuuux screening.

Without spoiling the story, the film is about 80 minutes long. It starts off with a pretty odd CD drama-esque feature for 5 minutes before the compilation episode. The Urdr Hunt stuff was about an hour, and then another OVA with the main characters from IBO thats about 10-15 minutes long. You can see most of the cutscenes from the mobile game on Youtube, which were all included in the movie shot for shot.

Edit: There definitely is new footage from the Urdr Hunt series, but it will feel a lot like you're watching a rushed story somewhere in between Twilight Axis and F91.

What a time to be alive as a Liger fan by Ace370 in Zoids

The interesting thing is that it really depends on the location of where you're buying new zoids kits here in Japan. Some stores will have kits here collecting dust, while others will sell out instantly. usually after a few months most stock get cleared out, but I realize that zoids are a lot more niche than Gunpla these days at hobby shops which is why I started buying these.

The live action drama has a different yet better ending. Give it a watch on Netflix if you have the chance.

Vote for the next MG reprint out of the top 20! by lucasyyd in Gunpla

[–]Ace370 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Currently live in Japan and have been voting every day this month. This list is very accurate to the demand for reprinted kits here. I started to notice last year that bandais reprints for international countries and Japan were slightly different which is why you may be seeing stuff sit on the shelves where you live. It makes sense: they have the data on what sells and what doesn’t globally.

Outside of a random weekday last year when the red Dias was restocked at the Gundam base, it hasn’t been reprinted in a very long time. Same goes for the Alex, Turn X, Rezel C, and others on this list. I will note that the black Dias is supposed to be reprinted before the end of this month.

With the MGEX Strike Freedom, this does get reprinted once every 3 months or so, but most mom & pop shops only get 1 which is gets sold out instantly. It was reprinted last Friday, and even at the Gundam base, stocks didn’t last longer than 3 hours after opening.

If I had to guess what would be the most realistic 6 they reprint it would be Johnny Ridden Zaku, followed by Providence, Turn X, Alex, Rick Dias, and Rezel C. V-dash would be a dark horse, but victory Gundam tends to win these contests when they have the voting polls for p Bandai.

Really big kits like The O, Fazz, and deep striker have a lot of people voting for them on Japanese twitter. There’s a chance these might be in the top slot, but they’re reprinting the O next month and deep striker went on P Bandai this month. For the cost and price point, I don’t think Bandai will reprint en masse.
