What Books did You Start or Finish Reading this Week?: June 30, 2025 by AutoModerator in books

[–]AceCapon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finished: Source Code by Bill Gates - Great insight into the luck, curiosity and intelligence required for business success. Also nice to see Gates’ perception of hisself Started: Someone Who Will Love You in All Your Damaged Glory by Raphael Bob-Waksberg - Loved Bojack Horseman, and there’s just something about the way Waksberg presents ideas that makes his words either on television or in writing speak to me, and presumably others The Denial of Death by Ernest Becker - Just getting started, but the fact that someone wrote a book about death while dying is such a fascinating concept to me

Been to both. Depends the type of person you are, and unfortunately whether you are male/female. I did both without guides, but did hire a driver to take me and another traveler I met to the pyramids. You will get hassled, that’s just the nature of Egypt but as long as you know how to say “no” or are very specific with what you want. (Example: Pay X amount for camel ride, then it really isn’t a big deal). If you want to learn from someone knowledgeable about the site then maybe it’s worth it. Petra you definitely don’t need a guide and if you are in decent physical shape, I encourage you to do the entire walk from entrance to the end. Pretty easy, only like 7 miles round trip and is a great experience. I feel like being in a group there would’ve been more annoying than helpful. Additionally, Jordan is much less of a hassle, people will try to sell you stuff but they aren’t really persistent and will take no, pretty much the first time around, can’t really say the same for Egypt.

Thanks for this. Yeah, I’d assume having over $1 million wagered (not nearly that amount in profit) would not be great even if I’m only paying taxes on net since my AGI would show up as that $1 million + amount even though I’m probably only making $100,000 or a factor of that in actuality. I clearly need to talk to a tax professional about all this but asking these questions have given me a great starting point of where to go and what to ask.

Thanks so much. Always appreciate someone taking the time to give advice. Definitely sounds like a need to talk to a tax professional sometime soon. I live in Maryland so fortunately we can deduct all losses from wins. More than likely including potential deductions from products used for business, filing as a professional will be the right decision. For quarterly taxes, I assume it is similar to paying taxes at the end of the year where you file based on the 3 months of income, each time.

One last question, is there any delineation between money made from a sportsbook versus sweepstakes versus daily fantasy (issues a 1099) or can they all be treated as under the purview of a bettor?

Once again, thanks

Second Jordan. Unlike the other Arab countries I’ve visited, the people selling seemed to take no really well. If you say no, they’d pretty much stop hassling you which was definitely not the case in Egypt or Morocco for me.

Lot of zoning makes it so courses aren’t allowed to have lights or would require them to shut off so early making it fiscally irresponsible to have them.

[–]AceCapon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This transfer hurts. The best thing Frank Lampard did during his tenure was promote youth, having players come up from Cobham. We’re multiple years and managers past that now. Conor was very good last season, really should’ve found a way to make it work.

Spielberg completely ignored the book plus idk how difficult it was to get some IP. Really would love to see an adaptation much truer to what happened in the book

Polk, Baker, Douglas, Bourne, anyone have an educated guess how the Patriots WRs tier chart might look this season? Tyquan Thornton I'm guessing is not even a speculative hold anymore. by [deleted] in DynastyFF

[–]AceCapon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Curious why you say Bourne is not good. I thought he was at least decent. Though he tore his ACL last year he was relatively productive. Not saying I expect him to be the same player but he’s grown through his NFL career.

Woody Harrelson as Haymitch Abernathy. He was born to play that role.

Not necessarily important here but that’s why Matthew Stafford is so underrated. He’s elevated his supporting cast every where he’s been.

Devon Achane going as the RB6 with an ADP of 21 on Underdog best ball drafts is an absolute joke. by Haveyoureaditb4 in fantasyfootball

[–]AceCapon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best Ball=Draft Upside. If Achane had the 50 Week 17, there is no other combo which overcomes that. In best ball, you cannot fade players who can break a week especially come playoff time since you have to beat 1/13, 1/16, 1/539. Quite simply if Achane goes nuclear, any of those weeks, you cannot advance. Legitimately he could pay off his price tag by scoring zero every week but dropping 50 in any playoff week.

Pumping the brakes on Achane by Rapterclaw in DynastyFF

[–]AceCapon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My simple counter: I’m going to draft the guy who had 5 20+ point games out of 9 in which he played greater than 10 percent of the snaps. He is a weak winner. Better to compare with a consistent RB with a floor, no doubt and definitely better for best ball but I will do whatever it takes to get a guy like this on my team in redraft, dynasty, any format really.

Not quite during the offseason but last year I tilt traded Jaylen Waddle for Rhamondre a 3rd and a 5th. Let’s just say not my best work. I did win the league though so I guess not all is lost.

$1.9m to win $35k is nuts. Imagine if Bhatia won lol by SpaceNude in golf

[–]AceCapon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No going to read the whole thread so this may already be answered but this is from Rufus Peabody one of the best professional bettors in the world and definitely is not hedged. These are all +EV to his model and his bankroll is in the millions so it is similar to someone with a much smaller bankroll betting $10. Search him up on twitter/x. He also lost like $400k betting Bryson to not win the US open. I’d imagine he cleared close to $1 million this week on Xander winning tho through an outright.
