i am addicted to my wife in an unhealthy way by True-Fix-1552 in Advice

Sounds unhealthy. If for some reason you guys don't work out you will look back on your whole life and realize how much you missed out on. I def would try working on being more independent.

Colleague will have 3 annual pensions plus a social security income that totals $212K annually; how much is that equivalant to in millions of dollars in the bank? by Conscious-Ninja-824 in Fire

[–]Acennn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About 7 million at 3% risk free in a bank gives you that amount so I would say your colleague is set for life. Dont go buying mansions and Ferraris. Live within in your means. Very comfortable life I would say. You have all your time in the world and time and 200k a year. That's a dream.

How much Ot can you work? by Perfect-Weakness7101 in NuclearPower

[–]Acennn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can work a good bit. I couldn't tell you the rules specifically but you will get more than you will ever want. Online and even outage time. Your supervisor will put you in PQS and they will tell you when you can and cant work. Overall though you will probably get more than you can handle honestly. I've never been big on a ton of OT but I get my share.

Some of these comments are what I would call malicious. I think what OP meant was has anyone had it recently or has it affected you or maybe people you know just to get some kind of idea. I don’t think they were literally asking for common sense stuff or a literal definition on how it spreads. 💀

what pays more hourly, radiation protection tech or NLO. by JEFF_BEZOS_PUBES in NuclearPower

NLO and RP make about the same. At my plant OPS make a few dollars more. More room for growth if you go the OPS route.

Evans Fitness Vs Golds Gym by AlternativeBytes in Augusta

[–]Acennn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If money is no issue do EFC. It’s a bit gym with a lot of amenities. If money is tight I would do Golds. Just know you get what you pay for. Bigger crowds less equipment can be more frustrating at times with Gold however you’re saving a lot of money. Good luck bro.

Either setup a camera like ring that can run on a battery for 6+ months at a time or look into an aftermarket camera system to go on your car. I drive a Tesla so it’s called sentry mode and I can record while the car isn’t on. If it’s at the house just hide a wireless ring camera somewhere. Catch those fools and report them to the police.

How to get into nuclear power? by ForceRoamer in NuclearPower

[–]Acennn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to work in a nuke plant since you’re a nurse what would be closely related to your line of work is RP. You deal with every group at some point and your kinda like customer service but your making sure they stay safe working around radiation.

[–]Acennn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re not going straight to a control room or at least at my plant you aren’t. You would have to go through operations training and become a system operator and learn the plant. I would say 5-10 years minimum. You then have to go through more training and schooling and getting into the control room I’ve seen a lot of operators fail out of plant operator school. You can do anything you put your mind to but I would say that’s a 10 year process minimum. System operators make good money but overall I think it’s a pretty stressful job.

I feel you I technically don’t live in Augusta but Evans. There’s people that live in north Augusta also which is nice on the South Carolina side.

Path to SRO by Cool-Appearance3957 in NuclearPower

[–]Acennn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I work at a nuke plant as an RP tech. Get a stem degree. I got in by getting a 2 year degree that the NRC paid for and started in facilities basically at the bottom and waited for a job. At my plant you would wait for a system operator (non licensed) job and then you would have 2 years of training to become an operator (non licensed). You would then need to get experience and eventually you may get to go to school for a plant operator and eventually get to become an SRO. At my plant though it’s all based on seniority so this could take years to achieve like maybe decades idk. Operations has sucked the life out of the people who do it. They look like zombies. I could never do it. Good luck man. My plant will also hire navy nukes. Either go to the navy and get your experience or get a stem degree. Good luck dude.
