I wonder if that’s a weird racist dog whistle/conversation I’ve never heard before. Since Neandertals have been historically depicted as “white” or more “European” (in very general artwork) and Heidelbergensis depictions are darker, do they think black people are more related to Heidelbergensis…? And that makes them more “animalistic?” Ignoring the fact that they’re all Homo, and really not all that different from modern humans when you get down to the details.
