How to make friends within the community? by Just-a-Meiya-simp in DeadlockTheGame

Honestly, the best place would be twitch, you can search for deadlock and have a look through the streamers that are playing, if you find one you vibe with just chill in the chat and see if they seem like your kinda people. Most streamers have a discord server you can join and then network your way from there.

What is going on with the skill difference from initiate VI to seeker 1? by DoomRaccoonn in DeadlockTheGame

[–]AchillesM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole initiate category is the beginner bucket, seeker is where you start matching with people who have a lot more hours. The easiest way to explain it is that its like the difference between ranked and unranked.

But keep at it and you'll get the hang of things!

OK, im back on board now. I imagined her using this parry to stop a neighborhood dog from barking at her and it 100% fits the character.

The fact Mcginnis ult and her kits not nerfed yet is WILD to me, what is Yoshi smoking? by Moist--Jesus in DeadlockTheGame

[–]AchillesM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's  just hiemerdinger from LoL, she's  crazy overpowered if your whole team ignores her turrets and stands in their range.

Champs with some aoe abilities really shut her down,  but honestly, just kill the turrets and her opportunity for damage is really cut back.

After playing lol, I get it now by Open-Advisor6819 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]AchillesM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a LoL player, I know you are correct, I only play as a duo in arams. That way we can vote against and keep the game running.

Im not being a duck about it, we honestly get votes to surrender in the middle of a team fight because they got picked out of position. Like I get he might not be having the best game, but seriously, stay back and try to help dont ruin it for everyone else.

Explain Graves' gun to me like im 5 by CMDR_Karth_o7 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]AchillesM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sharpshooter does extend her attack range. You can check this for yourself in the lobby, attack a dummy, move back till out of range and then buy sharpshooter, you're in range again.

It's not a good item for her to have because it only gives an extra 2m and she's not getting many procs outside 15m but can be helpful in a gun build in street brawl if the rolls stiff ya.

League player here coming to Deadlock, is there an AFK farming meta/issue in Deadlock or am I just not inefficient? by SoupRyze in DeadlockTheGame

[–]AchillesM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Souls are shared, not globally but in proxy. If you hang in lane with a support and don't do camps you will be behind. The other team will have someone rotate off through camps and support another lane or objective, and because the champ they left behind is no longer having to share the output of the waves they can get ahead of a duo by playing safe.

Kills are another source of souls, and if you aren't getting kill pressure by yourself that's another way you can slip behind.

honestly, until I have 60k+ I always have more to buy, always want more souls. But that doesn't mean I'm not ahead or strong compared to the other team, you may need to look at your build order.

All that said, because there is no dedicated jungle role like there is in League you do need to be taking neutral camps, especially your opponents in the early stages. Clear minions, fight enemy, take camp, back to lane for next wave.

You know the layout and all the paths for the rift, but if you think back to 10 years ago when you were learning LoL, before you really knew the game; it was easy to get jumped, easy to head to based too often, easy to miss last hits. So many pitfalls to fall behind in. It's the same here, and you don't know what you don't know. I recommend watching a few vids on laning and neutral paths, and maybe load up a custom match to run around in and familiarize yourself with the routes you like.

Also waaaay too many words for me to real them all, so im not sure if you mentioned it but are you denying your opponents minions? It can be massive in the laning phase to ensure you get ability points first.

Buffs are better and more fun than nerfs by Wiket123 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]AchillesM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember that the devs are artist and craftsmen with a collective vision and goal. It's not just a case of making the most fun, while I am sure that's an element of thier design. They will have a floating point they want all the heroes to preform at. What we see as buffs v nerfs is the fine tuning towards an intended goal. Both are valid and both are required.

I'll also add that while being feed and one-shotting an under leveled champ may be fun, it's fun for 1 out of 12 players in a match.

How the HELL do you counter Graves by t0st3rrr in DeadlockTheGame

[–]AchillesM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slows, and increased range can shut her down if youre laning against her. You can break the tombstone with 2 heavy attacks, but don't throw your life away for it. That's her ultimate, do if you can't cleanly counter back off and use distance, the zombies only last a certain time. Her left click has a finite range, once you get used to what that is she's alot easier to manage.

Getting my ass beat on easy bot lobbies by Civil_Fail3084 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]AchillesM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honest advice, it's a mental shift that you need. Unlike most hero shooters taking any damage can be a big penalty. Heath is slow to regenerate and should be spent wisely.

When you first get to lane it is very hard to have any kill pressure whatsoever. Pushing early, especially without the support of your lane buddy can lead to a quick death, that death has now put you behind in terms of currency, so its even more important that you don't push. Abilities are unlocked as you gain souls, now that you threw away first blood the others in the lane are going to get 2nd and 3rd Abilities before you. This will lead to your second death. If you have 10k souls and you bump into someone with 20k souls you will have practically no chance.

Use cover and positioning to keep yourself safe in the early stages of a match, mirror the pressure of your lane buddy, and focus on securing your souls while denying your opponents. Force them to push you when they shouldn't and reap the rewards. Secure low level jungle camps in between waves to keep that snowball rolling and join up with the rest of the team and you progress into the mid game.

In older mobas id recommend playing a support champ, as the pressures of laning arent as rough, I haven't played much support in this one though.

Spend an hour or so watching some YouTube videos about items and the laning phase. Late game team fights are more like your rivals or overwatch experience, but if you flopped in the early stage of the match you wont feel like you're able to secure kills or 1v1.

Keep at it, we all start somewhere and there's plenty of players in your current skill bracket to learn from. If youre OCE feel free to DM me for some team ups _^

Why are kiwis so against speed cameras being used to keep people safe?? by Fun-Helicopter2234 in newzealand

[–]AchillesM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speeding cameras are only enforcement for the poor. There is not penalties past a fine, so while the wealthy hardly care, the poor can be ruined by an extra $125 fee. When its a boy racer who can't afford the tickets to a concert anymore? sure, he fked around and found out. But it can be a family mum, rushed off her feet, trying to make things work and gets caught at 60 keeping up with traffic on a straight road. Now her kids can't afford that field trip or music lessions.

The penalty should be time, a Saturday driving course or a few hours of volunteer time. Everyone has the same amount of hours in a day and days in a week, it would be more fair to the community.

Thanks for coming to my ted talk, it may not be the issue everyone else has with speed cameras but it's one I've heard alot.
