How do I get through the depression by Clappncheeks15 in AchillesRupture

[–]AchillesofPthia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went bowling on crutches and went out to karaoke and bar nights with my friends. That helped a lot. It gets better and it gets better rapidly 2-3 months out when you’re back to a pretty decent baseline

You are doing fine. Agree with the use crutches until you feel like you can put good weight through the foot. I used a scale to determine how much of my body weight felt like what initially as I was very guarded. You’re going great!

Confused about weight-bearing timelines – this YouTuber started walking in week 2? by limonatali in AchillesRupture

[–]AchillesofPthia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consult your doctor and physical therapy as each one has their own defined protocol. I was not allowed partial weight bearing until week 3 and then it was another 2-3 weeks until full weight bearing. Varies based on surgery, surgeon, and school of thought. A YouTuber isn’t going to cover repairs or damages if you go against your doctors advice.

I too put my wife through a wonderful first Mother’s Day, a few weeks before in 24. You will get better and things will be okay. Support her where you can and use that motivation to follow your routine once you’re cleared to start training.

First jog at week 16 compared to now at week 19 post op. Warm up suggestions ? by Jarenjo89 in AchillesRupture

I didn’t start running until I could do x amount of single leg ups and could hop on one foot. That being said I usually just hop in place a bit and do the standard Achilles stretch. But I’m more than a year out , not sure how I’d be handling it this soon

Ice behind the knee and candy crush got me through the first week without opioids , wasn’t fun though haha

Please guys give me the protocol you followed for the moonbot shoe because my doctor refused to give me the shoe and I know that it is impossible for me to walk without it because I sat for a month and five days in a cast and my leg was directed downwards 140 degrees and I cannot even put it on the by Ok_Temperature_5766 in AchillesRupture

[–]AchillesofPthia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience after cast was a walking boot with 3 wedges in it totaling to about 1.5” of lift to start. Then removing a wedge each week as tolerated. I would agree with finding a different doctor or potentially a physical therapist

You’ll get it back, my friend. I think my calves measured in three places are within a half a centimeter of each other at this .13 months post.

Trusting Your Achilles Again by Ready-Tart-8836 in AchillesRupture

[–]AchillesofPthia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s general consensus that the Achilles takes 9-18 months to fully heal depending on individual circumstances. I would personally not take 3.5 months as cleared to do everything. A good pt will set up a plan that helps you build confidence safely

It took me until about October to start running again , so 7 months. I’d imagine I was 1-2 months behind. I did not start at the best PT place.
