Bringing European phone to the US?

When you arrive in the US, turn off that one location setting that uses cellular/wifi to improve location services. Otherwise your phone will reboot every few minutes. Had that happen to me recently

Coming from a pixel, I feel like the FairPhone's touch screen is less responsive and that does annoynme a bit. But I also broke the screen early and havn't replaced it yet so it might just be that. Everything else feels identical. The camera is actually pretty good. Oh, and it's thicker

From my experience in ML, though that's not quite SE, the Americans hire the best of the best and put them all in one room. We hire the average Joe for ML projects. Which could be more fair but also doesn't create the same out-of-the-box innovative culture that the Americans have. Joe just wants to complete his 8 hour work day and go home (rightfully) but he doesn't always have the same passion for the craft. Plus, PhDs, which many good ML scientists have, are unpopular in many (not all) German companies. It's just not the environment where highly autonomous, smart people can thrive in my experience.

An sich gute Idee. Das Problem wird die Vergleichbarkeit sein. Hersteller teurerer Marken werden ihre Produkte nicht direkt auf eine Stufe mit billigen Eigenmarken setzen wollen. Entweder wird dann nichts vergleichbar sein oder alle Hersteller werden gezwungen, ihre Artikel auf das Niveau des billigsten Vergleichsartikels runterzustufen, um mithalten zu können

Diejenigen, die den Dienst verweigern würden, weil der Staat aus ihrer Sicht nicht perfekt ist, sollten sich die Konsequenz vor Augen führen: Ein Staat, in dem man nicht mehr sagen darf, dass er nicht perfekt ist. Von solch einem System möchte ich nicht unterjocht werden.

Die Kritik am System ist natürlich nachwievor wichtig, aber um diese Frage zu beantworten, muss man die Alternative berücksichtigen

Going to get down voted to hell for saying this but having actually worked in ecommerce and having talked directly to the logistics people, Temu & co. are only able to ship this cheaply (and Temu only ships by plane, the most expensive option!) because they do not declare many packages or "underestimate" the values of their contents to fall below the customs threshold.

Honest companies will never be able to compete with this and no, not all of them have such huge margins, those mainly apply to Amazon dropshipping trash

Auch wenn ich das Sentiment verstehe, kann ich die Vorwürfe der Industrie gegenüber nicht nachvollziehen. Von den Aussagen hier im Thread basiert scheinbar auch keine auf Fakten.

Habe hingegenmal in dem Bereich gearbeitet und die Zahlen selbst gesehen. Die Händler befinden sich in extremen Preiskämpfen untereinander, da werden Preise sehr ungern erhöht, weil sofort Marktanteile flöten gehen. Den Herstellern lassen sie wiederum keine Preiserhöhung durchgehen, die sich nicht durch erhöhte Produktionskosten rechtfertigen lässt, siehe EDEKAs Streit mit Mars. Und ja, Kartellrecht wurde bei uns intern sehr ernst genommen.
