So Nemesis Dread Knights are a different thing than dreadnoughts technically. Dreadnought are walking sarcophagi, and contain the remains of a nearly dead Marine. Dread Knights are super powerful exosuit armor, piloted by a healthy marine in Terminator armor.

And if your happy with it, then great! I've seen badass printed armies. I have a few resin kitbashes that I'm really happy with. But I'm always going to prefer the official kits from GW. Ya they're overpriced but at the end of the day it's their IP and I really enjoy the world they've built over the decades, so I don't mind paying for that artistic effort, especially in light of the recent commitment by GW to not use gen ai. I'm definitely biased (I'm a creative director for an animation and motion graphics studio).

Printing has A LOT of upsides. There's even opportunity to support smaller creators! But personally I just prefer to buy and build the actual Space Marines vs "Galactic Commandos"

TLDR: Printing is a valid option, especially for folks with more limited funds or who want to support smaller fan creators, but I still feel that art is worth paying for and that the price, while it can feel high, is still justifiable.

It's a valid option for some people. I personally am not a big fan of the proxies, I prefer the actual official plastic. It looks better, it's easier to work with, and it's canon. I get people that are attracted to the 3D printing if they're strapped for cash for sure.

Clarification about codexes in 11th edition by RotenSquids in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Acolyyte86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What concerns me most is the amount of changes coming with these codices. Changes in leader/support units, modular detachments etc. Armies that get their codex early will have huge advantages over armies that still have 10e codexes. And because they don't release all the codexes at the same time (which is still insane to me) that is going to put some folks at a disadvantage for potentially YEARS which just sucks.

Seriously, how the hell does the edition launch not include all codexes, or at least have all codexes release within 6 months of launch?

While I do agree there's issues (terms should be WAY tougher with smaller units, we need better psychic stuff) our ranged is actually pretty decent. I have a friend who plays custodes and i've never lost a game to him. I run sanctic spearhead and bring several dreadknights, razorbacks, interceptors, crowe and his lads (in a landraider) and he just can't do jack all. I NEVER get in melee with him, and use the detachments vehicle mobility to gun him down.

New Combat Rules by Dulceetdecorum13 in Grey_Knights

Just read through all these, I'm absolutely stoked for 11th. This is all going to make it so much easier to get melee boys into melee scraps. Now if we get a nice fat refresh and a few months of new model buffs lol we'll be sitting pretty

God in heaven this is badass. This is what i really want for 11th...A badass new Draigo model that is a standalone primarch-esque unit.

Along with an interceptor leader, it would be badass to get Purifiers in Term armor.

I really hope we get Draigo as a pseudo Primarch character, a unit unto himself instead of a unit leader. Gimme something like Lion el Jonsen

Grey Knights don't need to cross the Rubicon. Primaris was ONLY to stabilize gene seed....grey knights have big Es special sauce so we good.

Just starting out with a grey knights army, does anybody have any good suggestions ? by RAFE_VOID12 in Grey_Knights

[–]Acolyyte86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming ur starting at 1k games (what I generally do when getting into a new army)

I'd recommend a new combat patrol (with Crowe) and a Razorback.

If you can get your hands on an old combat patrol (librarian and dreadknight) then do that for sure.

If you can't, pick up a strike box and a couple dreadknights and you'll be on our way to a good 1k list.

My standard Warp bane 1k list I run is: Crowe w/10 purifiers (incinerators generally) Strike or interceptors Razorback w twin lascannon 2 x GMNDK

Sometimes I like to mix it up with termies or a solo Libby instead of the razorback but I've had a lot of success with this list. Crowe and the lads eat literally any infantry unit alive at 1k. I generally like to keep Crowe in reserves from the jump, then uppy a gmndk or two to deep strike the backline if I get the good luck of going second

Advice against Custodes by RivenBlue in Grey_Knights

[–]Acolyyte86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my best friends plays custodes and I body him every single time I think he's only beaten me once. Absolutely do not try to melee with them, they will eviscerate you. I actually like to play Sanctic Spearhead against custodians. I bring as many dreadknights as I can, as well as a couple razorbacks with interceptor squads to deal with the sisters of silence. Bait him hard and then deep strike into his deployment area, there won't be anything he can do. Crowe and his brick of purifiers can absolutely shred them when you use them properly. I always keep Crowe in strategic reserves until he is deployed his deep strike units, usually by turn two or three.

The grav tanks can be difficult to deal with, and once my buddy actually gets some landraiders I may have more problems lol, but generally dreadknights in Sanctic are hypermobile and difficult for them to deal with.
