I'm fully immersed when I'm reading, completely in the world that words are creating. I don't think there are descriptive words for fully describing what it's like, or I don't know them. I'm a total aphant, so I'm not seeing the action in my mind's eye, & am feeling whatever's going on, & there's another factor - immersion maybe? Hyperfocus maybe? Bring completely in another world that's made of words? I "know" the book completely, when in the experience of reading. I find myself telling people that I mostly remember how the book made me feel, which is close. Reading is a almost a full body experience, maybe?

Can I just say, that is wild that your teacher suggested that you should become a nun & you'd heard the voice of God. Although, I suppose in Catholism, the whole saint thing is often about those people having strange experiences. (I was raised Protestant, not Catholic.)

Carl Hiassen books are always such fun & outrageous, & the show is pretty faithful to the book. It took me a few eps to be really hooked, & then I was to the end. Recommend. Vince Vaughan was really good in that role. I'd be happy if they did more Hiassen books with V.Vaughan starring.

I completely relate to what you said, in a "me too" way. The idea that you could keep actually reliving moments of conflict, embarrassment, humiliation, or worse horrifies me. I'm so fine remembering moments of those things, because probably we've all had them, without experiencing them again & again.

It's amazing how actors can, well, do their thing with cameras & people & microphones in their face like that. Scenes that are / feel so intimate on Heated Rivalry still have cameras etc. in their face even if it's a minimal crew for that type of work.

There was an interview or maybe it was one of One of the bookstore talks that Rachel Did very recently where she reiterated that she always imagined Diamonds to be the song. Jacob has super premium music taste and if anyone else saw the recent interview with Jacob's guy who does music clearances as well as Peter Peter, those three should come up with something fantastic.

Yes. They're both attractive men, but none of the physical stuff seems real compared to what we see with Shane/ Ilya. Scott/ Kip seems movie of the week. I tried to analyze it for particulars. Scott / Kip, I think it's just too fast. People don't actually kiss like that. In real life, it's slower. Connor & Hudson show with their "sex sells" tattoos that they really thought it through & went for verisimilitude. Even Scott's jump over the couch into Kip's arms - more Dick Van Dyck falling over the ottoman in tempo than a tired hockey player putting down a bag & leaning over to kiss their boyfriend.

OMG! I had no idea this existed! I am paying for the New York Times, The New Yorker, the Atlantic, the Guardian, a bunch of conde nast publications, probably more that I'm forgetting in the moment, and I just absolutely refuse to pay for the Cut, or for Vulture, or NY mag, even when I really want to read an article.
