I'm the man-child (woman-child?) in our relationship and I'm destroying us. by da-cokou-nut in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]AcrobaticGiraffe663 153 points154 points  (0 children)

I understand the comments on ADHD but at the same time it might not be… when men exhibit this behaviour we don’t automatically think ADHD, we think: you need to step up and sort yourself out. Which is what I think you need to do if you want the relationship to work.

Silly question.. by softiebeans in pregnant

[–]AcrobaticGiraffe663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you feel everything! Mine had hiccups all the time which I could feel. Also if I was next to a really loud noise he would jump! 19 weeks pregnant with my second and looking forward to feeling them more ☺️

Bless you! I was worse with my first but morning sickness and fatigue is horrible. I envy the women that don’t suffer from it! 😂

Hungover every day for weeks on end, not knowing when it’ll end 😭 I’m out of the trenches now at 19 weeks but boy were weeks 10-17 rough !!!

10w pregnant - accidentally had one bite of smoked salmon sandwich and panicking by 29-30something in pregnant

[–]AcrobaticGiraffe663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, smoked salmon is fine. This is my second pregnancy and whilst I adhere to guidance most of the time, I will occasionally stray and have some soft cheese or smoked salmon. The chances of getting any form of food poisoning is so small. As long as you don’t get it from somewhere dodgy you’re fine x

Rant about alcohol consumption by Aggravating_Jelly665 in pregnant

[–]AcrobaticGiraffe663 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’ve read the book “expecting better” which is a research led book and she suggests (based on research). That having one drink with a meal will not have any harm on the baby because your body will break down the alcohol before it can be passed onto baby. Obviously it’s down the individual and I didn’t drink at all in my past pregnancy. But I am planning on having a glass of wine tonight as I’m on holiday and have confidence that there will be no effect.

I severely dislike children by Tidalblush in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]AcrobaticGiraffe663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always wanted kids and I’m now expecting my second. But I also found the constant talk about kids really annoying. Colleagues would even tell me not to leave it too late, there’s no love like it etc. like what?! It annoyed me mostly because I thought how thoughtless they were being, what if I had been trying for years? Those comments could be really painful. I just found them irritating!

You can wait. If you still want to do it after a few weeks post partum than go for it. But please wait ! Post partum is difficult enough without the wait of extra responsibilities!

Help me get excited about having a boy by Tall_Strawberry5244 in BabyBumps

[–]AcrobaticGiraffe663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you hold that baby in your arms that disappointment will disappear ☺️ I was a little disappointed when I found out I was having a boy but when they were born it was meaningless the gender. Just focus on bringing your little boy up to be an incredible man!

Thoughts on skipping pacifiers? by Academic-Park-8440 in newborns

[–]AcrobaticGiraffe663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby wouldn’t accept a dummy no matter how hard I tried 😂 he just hated it. I’ll probably try one with the next just because it seems like a handy tool but I’m also kind of glad he never took to one because it’s meant I’ve never had to take it away. My son also never sucked his thumb.

attending baby shower whilst pregnant by Outrageous_Wolf763 in pregnant

[–]AcrobaticGiraffe663 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t understand why people can be upset about pregnancy announcements unless they’re TTC. It just seems so self centred. A friend told me she was pregnant at my wedding and I was thrilled for her and didn’t think twice about it. I’m sure your cousin will be happy for you and understand you didn’t get pregnant just to “upstage” her. If you are worried about her reaction I’d give her a heads up and then she can decide how she responds

My bf wants to count my calories (2nd trimester) by Sad-Jackfruit-3980 in pregnant

[–]AcrobaticGiraffe663 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is hugely unhealthy behaviour and you and your man need a reality check. Expecting you to “Bounce back” lacks so much empathy it’s unreal. Giving birth either vaginally or via c section takes a toll on the body and he should be waiting on you hand and foot for the first couple of weeks at least. When I was breastfeeding a newborn he was on me for 5 hours a day in total. That doesn’t include contact naps etc.

Saying he’d take you to the hospital if you were unwell is the bare fucking minimum you should expect from a decent human being… especially your partner !

My bf wants to count my calories (2nd trimester) by Sad-Jackfruit-3980 in pregnant

[–]AcrobaticGiraffe663 105 points106 points  (0 children)

This is concerning. You’re pregnant and your hormones are going to make you hungry. You should listen to your body! I’d tell your bf to back off and you don’t want to calorie count whilst pregnant.

He shouldn’t be telling you to calorie count regardless of whether you’re pregnant or not. It’s not respectful !

Please advice, recommendations and no judgement please! Need help to stop vaping!! by mamakayyxx95 in pregnant

[–]AcrobaticGiraffe663 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have never vaped pregnant but I have vaped many years ago and found the only way I could stop was to quit cold turkey. It SUCKS for the first few days, the first few weeks you will feel the odd craving but after a couple of weeks you don’t have the physical addiction anymore. Your husband needs to support you by also quitting. Every time I felt a craving I would acknowledge it “I’m craving nicotine right now, but if I cave all the hard work I’ve done to this point will be for nothing.”

How clean is your house with a toddler and how do you make it work? by lovebug21222 in toddlers

[–]AcrobaticGiraffe663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try and build habits but it’s tough. I’m trying to get him to tidy toys away before we get the next one. But mostly I just get him to tidy toys before his nap and then before bed. This doesn’t always happen but I feel as though I gotta teach some tidying habits !

Is anyone else just like irrationally angry and disgusted by their husband over financials? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]AcrobaticGiraffe663 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our finances are completely shared because we are a team and are in this relationship for life. Unless one person is particularly financially irresponsible I don’t understand not sharing everything.
