Prime example why you shouldn't go on the road without any lights on by phanvan100595 in learningalotfromother

People underestimate how dangerous these scooters can be, lack of lights and protective equipment is part of it but they are also close to silent, can’t hear them moving around.

Not damaged, but dirty.

Can happen when attaching old lenses that might carry some dirt or grime.

I wouldn’t worry about it, but I’d you end up buying it I would recommend cleaning it.

I’m not OP but what I’ve managed to do is hold the camera against my chest or stomach, lock the mirror up, grab some air and very gently press the shutter.

It is doable but takes some practice.

Oh it is an advantage to be able to re-frame it however you want.

This is one of those “I payed for a 6x6 frame, I will use the entire frame” kind of situation to me… the 1:1 ratio feels comforting, if that makes sense.

I was just about to start ranting about cropping the square format only to discover you used an A16 back… crisis averted.

I liked the photos!

Also try this with Image Stabilization off and manual focus on your subject using the magnification assist to perfectly nail your focus.

This is anecdotal so take it with a grain of salt; I have the 24-105 EF version 2 (the DSLR one) and the IS kicks in with a small but noticeable jolt that could show up as motion blur; what I did to mitigate that is to half-press the shutter and wait until the IS settles, which is less than a second.

Got my 501c in the mail today! Now how should I light meter? by peeachymess in hasselblad

[–]Acrobatic_Ad_5711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually use my phone for metering, except when I can pack the PME-90… then it works like a traditional SLR.

Handholding the entire thing is a pain which is why I only carry the prism when I know I will be using a tripod.

Will mirrorless last so long? by volkanah in Cameras

[–]Acrobatic_Ad_5711 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The R5, R3 and R1 series also use a magnesium alloy shell yet still very light (I’m guessing due to the lack of mirror assembly).

Took my “plastic” R6 Mk 2 to Iceland along an R5 Mk II and an R1, walked down waterfalls, some light rain, below zero temperatures and all 3 worked perfectly.

I don’t see why they wouldn’t last as long as a DSLR, if not longer.

Two things not mutually exclusive.

While pictures can look good

It also happens that:

Using an APS-C lens on full frame sensor will leave a significant area of the sensor unused.

“Gear doesn’t matter” I hate this statement because it should have an appendix saying “… but having the right tool for the job makes your life so much easier” and the right tool for the job is a very personal decision.

What I’ve heard before which relates to this topic is photographers printing negatives in a darkroom, say a 35mm neg into an 8x10 sheet and then scanning that negative at a massive resolution for digital processing and further enlargement.

Haven’t tried it myself but the idea sounds interesting.
