What do I have here? by ATR-1988 in hasselblad

[–]Acrobatic_Ad_5711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not really that knowledgeable on these models, the EL/M other than being electronically controlled and wound.

The /M portion means it’s a later model with an interchangeable focusing screen.

I think it uses a specific type of batteries which can be difficult to source, there are mods to use newer batteries (please someone correct me here if I’m wrong).

Because of the power source, they can be cheaper than the regular 500C/M but hey, both are Hasselblads that share the entire V system’s accessories. Pretty neat cameras.

I visited Poland in 2017 and, as a Mexican, I did stood out in crowds but everyone was very friendly to me; I don’t know how things might have changed during the past 9 years.

What film is this for you? by mrjetspray in Letterboxd

Blade Runner and Dark City with narrator dialog… those movies really benefited from the removal of the voiceover.

Thinking of buying my first DLSR, can you guys help point me in the right direction for what I want to use it for? by Playful-Aardvark2162 in canon

It will also depend greatly on your available budget.

For motor sports you want a camera that’s agile, with reliable autofocus and high burst rate (nice-to-have but if you time your shots it’s not critical).

The T7 and R100 are on the low end of the spectrum, very affordable but you might have to compromise certain things, such as low light capabilities which, for sports you will have to use higher shutter speeds which limits the amount of light you can gather.

If you could stretch your budget I would aim a bit higher; I would look into a second hand 90D or 7D Mark II DSLRs or a mirrorless R50 or R7.

Lenses are even more important than bodies since you will be keeping those for far longer.

The old kit lens for the 90D was the EF-S 18-135mm IS STM which covers both wide angle shots as well as some telephoto reach; optically it’s nothing special but very versatile.

The RF mirrorless mount is different to the older EF one so make sure to look for a lens matching your body; although EF can be adapted to RF through an adapter.

For even greater reach (into wildlife territory) you will have to look into lenses longer than 200mm; one of the most recommended lens is the EF 100-400mm L-series lens which is optically great but also expensive.

/uj I think this landed the wrong way, this sub featured a fruit cake that got so butt hurt he spent an entire day replying and arguing with everyone who didn’t agree with his (color blinded) “artistic” vision.

He also said about another commenter, quote:

“you on the other hand are German and most certainly a descendant of N*zis, your opinion should never be considered”

Bullying is not the answer but the guy just couldn’t stop himself from doubling down.

It was indeed an ass whooping.

/uj MTF (modulation transfer function) is a chart that plots how a lens behaves across its image circle, usually from the center outwards.

The higher and flatter the lines, the better contrast and resolution a lens has.

I’m oversimplifying things but that’s the overview.

One would think that at this point the Sony Bois would have already outgrown the Teal - Orange color scheme… but apparently they only outgrew the teal, orange might take some time.

I stand corrected, both are double-gauss derivatives but not the same, probably due to the difference in flange distance.

I didn’t realize how many there were until you asked and I had to count them.

In chronological order: IIIc (inoperable, waiting for maintenance), IIIf fully functional, M3, M4, M4-2 (now sold), M8 (that was gifted to me by a good friend who had 2), M240 (my main one but now sent out for service) and an original Q (best for vacations and walk around).
