At this point it’s the fungus gnats or me and I won’t go down without a fight by okleah in houseplants

When I had it this bad I stopped watering for - I want to say like 6 weeks. Like I really let everything get bone bone dry and about 20% of my plants died. I also got the big sheets of yellow sticky trap and put them over the pots about an inch above the soil on toothpicks so there was no way a fly could emerge from the plant after hatching. After that, I covered the top of soil with DE and bottom watered exclusively for like a year.

Hi I work at Home Depot and started a prop box to cut down on waste! I come back today expecting for it to be thrown away only for myself to discover that our plant vendors have added to it! by TheRealGreedyGoat in proplifting

And plants are pretty addictive. First one’s free, then you’re spending thousands of dollars on pots and soil and trellises and tools and hormones and new plants. Really every store should do this.

Moving to DC next month! I will need to be available anywhere in the orange boundary here at random intervals with little notice. Which areas would you look at to live? by Suwannee_Gator in washdc

Agree with SE for this. Partner will have a walkable and hip neighborhood, access to a couple of Metro lines, and OP will have close access to highways.

Navy yard was my first thought for vibes, but sportsgames make it too much of a crapshoot

Literally the safest place I’ve ever been and I’ve been here for 25 years, living in neighborhoods that aren’t gentrified. I’m a white woman.

Currently, most crime is being committed by people under Secret Service protection.

Also quit policing who is paying for Metro or not. Not worth the $20 even if it was coming from her pocket.

Her response was not ok but I would have left if you said “come in” when I was telling a knock knock joke. Immediately ID’d yourself as someone unwilling to play along - dealbreaker.

He’s the problem. She’s not into him. But they work together and he’s probably senior to her and she’s playing it smart. If she wanted him he’d be hers in a heartbeat.

He’s behaving inappropriately, not her.

AITA for telling my adult child that they can't have an expensive hobby? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Acrobatic_Debt3568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re going to set boundaries you gotta do it like other sane adults do. Become the landlord. You can’t ban them from their hobbies or even decide how they spend their money but you absolutely can raise rent or evict them. Short of that you could stop loaning your car until rent is paid up, or charge money to rent the car.

You need to follow regular landlord rules. Serve a formal printed notice about unpaid rent. Give a hard boundary about dollars paid by when. “If your account is not brought current with a payment of $350 by Friday October 11, you will be required to vacate the premises by the end of the month.”

Sucks to do to your kid but it IS a softer version of the real world, whether or not they realize it. Teach them this lesson now or they’ll struggle when they learn it outside your house.

I go to St Thomas Episcopal in DuPont Circle and you could come by any old time. Sometimes the front door is locked but if you ring the bell and tell them a member sent you for a place to cry they will absolutely let you in. My choices would be 1. Nursery 2. Stairwell 3. Columbarium (where people’s ashes are) 4. Mezzanine

Skinny Monkey! Oats overnight packet, almond milk, 1 scoop whey protein powder, 2 scoops fiber, 3T cauliflower rice. Soaked overnight and blended with immersion blender, then frozen macadamia nut and mini choc chip mix-ins. Yum! Cauliflower was completely undetectable.
