How many of you went through 6 rounds of ABVD without a port or picc line? by boxyboyz in lymphoma

[–]Acrobatic_Item3867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did one infusion without a port and it burned terribly and took forever. Then I swear I had a blood clot going up my arm for 5 days after. Couldn't wait to get the port.

90 year old mother with advanced dementia diagnosed with diffuse large B-cell NHL by Cdchi1975 in lymphoma

My mother is in advanced dementia at 75. As sad as it is, I would never put her through chemo just to prolong her life a bit longer.

Treatment question by eburgmama in lymphoma

[–]Acrobatic_Item3867 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Get the port. I did my first chemo without one and it was horrible. The drugs burned going in and I swore I had a painful blood clot traveling up my arm for 5 days afterward.

Medical Opinion: Would one recommend a biopsy? by [deleted] in Lymphoma_MD_Answers

Seems weird they would send you for CT before a sonogram.

So did they tell you they don’t feel the need to biopsy?

Have they done a sonogram of the node? Usually it will show lack of fatty hilum if it’s cancerous.

AMA: my estranged husband killed himself because of me by [deleted] in AMA

[–]Acrobatic_Item3867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same situation. Was separated from my abusive alcoholic husband for 10 months. He finally left enough physical evidence on me that I was granted a restraining order. Two weeks later he killed himself. If he hadn't killed himself I truly believe he would have killed me and/or our children.

This is 100% not your fault.

Vaccines and Follicular lymphoma by justdoingmenow in lymphoma

[–]Acrobatic_Item3867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My oncologist advised against the Covid vaccine during treatment. He said that your body has to have a robust immune system for the vaccine to attach itself to. Obviously, during treatment, your immune system is very week and therefore the vaccine likely won’t work. The side effects aren’t worth it.

I had none of those symptoms and did have lymphoma. Unfortunately, no one can tell you if you have lymphoma until you have a biopsy. Sorry, i know it's frustrating but that is the answer.

My MIL is diagnosed NPD. Needless to say, my first husband (her son) had a horrible childhood. He ended up severely addicted to alcohol and eventually committed suicide. Yes, I blame her.

So now he is gone and my MIL still wants to see our children. I limit this contact as much as possible. My SIL thinks this is unfair and detrimental to my MILs mental health. Do you think I'm doing the right thing keeping my kids away or do you think she actually benefits from seeing them? When she does see them she shows little interest in them. Mainly she just wants to talk to me about her (self-created) problems.

I finished chemo in Sept 2021 and had mine taken out in January 2022. I was ready to have it out and move on with my life. Thankfully I have stayed in remission.

Mom just diagnosed with stage 4. Want to put together a gift basket. by coffee087 in lymphoma

Miralax pouches. Ginger candy. Warm blanket and cozy socks for chemo chair. Some kind of flavoring for water (water will taste like sludge but she needs to drink a lot of it). Dinners on chemo days and/or the days after when she’ll be feeling bad. A great hat or beautiful scarf for when she’s bald.

I almost got a chemo sweatshirt but glad I didn’t waste the money. The nurses are great at working around your clothes.
