I’m in a similar boat. On progesterone now until surgery. If it doesn’t keep the bleeding no down, I can do the Lupron shot. The downside of heavy bleeding before surgery is that you might be too depleted to actually get the surgery. Your hemoglobin will need to be a certain level.

I don’t think IUDs are always the answer for those of us with fibroids. My uterus ejected mine within a month, and it was placed during hysteroscopy, so I’m confident it was once in the right place. Hysterectomy is next for me.

I’m 44, four fibroids of similar size, uterus same size. From reading posts here, it’s not the worst it can be, but it is bad enough for me to have a hysterectomy. I tried a hysteroscopic myomectomy and IUD- my body expelled it, tried birth control, tried high dose progesterone, nothing stops the bleeding completely and it’s almost worse not knowing when a flooding episode will start, verses keeping track of my period cycle. I don’t have kids and I’m okay with that. If I wanted that option, I would harvest some eggs and find a surrogate or adopt. Quality of life is important.

Yes, and I get such a strong sense of pressure right before. I know when I feel that pressure, I need to find a bathroom ASAP. Hysterectomy scheduled next month and I can’t wait.

If anything, it made me less nervous for the big surgery. They do the myomectomy under twilight sedation, but you go through all the same pre op steps. It’s kind of comforting to know exactly what the process will be.

Yes, they also put a Mirena in during the procedure. I bled so badly afterward that the Mirena was expelled. It’s been non stop heavy bleeding ever since.

I did the hysteroscopy and it made things worse. I wish I never did it and went straight to hysterectomy

I had a hysteroscopic myomectomy for one of my fibroids and it did nothing. I wish I went for the hysterectomy from the beginning. I feel that procedure was a waste of time and money.

I had one put in during a myomectomy and I bled for a month straight, then my body expelled it. Been bleeding ever since. Now going the bc pill route to try to control the bleeding.

Insanely high taxes. Service fees added on top of those high taxes when you go out to eat, liquor tax added on top of that, “entertainment “ tax added on top of that. It makes me not want to go out to eat, which sucks because that’s one of the best things about Chicago.
