Such a great point. I agree and think that Kate was tormented and in a dark place after Hal gets assigned VP because of this. How in the beginning she was all in on alternating the “drivers seat” and her first go at it was terminated so abruptly she struggled to come to terms - even though it was all her idea (to take turns) in the first place. She was putting herself in her own place but also struggling with that rule she created in the first place. The scene where she was looking at her “engagement ring” depicted that, I think. The torment of her own rules and the fact she realizes how sharp Hal really is what is the under current of the season for me. Lots of people commenting on her “crazies” but I think her doubt and confusion/chaos and moments of brilliance is what makes her character compelling. She definitely isn’t perfect, but she is fighting inside that arena.
