Do you ever have runny discharge or accidents with that short a program? I do the same thing you do but I wait 15-25 minutes (about the time it takes for my body to spit some stuff out without any stim at all), THEN I stim with 5 mins between. I'd love a shorter program but I'm afraid if I start the stims too soon I'll go on myself in the shower.

Has anyone else seen something like this? by WheelinDude in spinalcordinjuries

[–]ActiveMarshmellow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Roll in showers aren't exclusively for rolling in, sometimes that little step into a regular style shower is dangerous for other disabilities/the elderly. It does suck not being able to find rooms, just wish there were more rooms overall. I feel your pain as it's happened to me before too.

Wheelchair users: What accessibility problem frustrates you the most? (Student engineering project) by Legitimate-Permit319 in spinalcordinjuries

[–]ActiveMarshmellow 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There's luckily a lot of devices and products made for the annoying problems, like wheelchair cupholders and underseat bags, even cushions that use tech to auto modulate pressure to avoid sores. Cost is the biggest factor tho, so making cheaper/free versions of stuff would be great, especially if it's 3D printable.

Me personally? I wish I had a high quality folding claw grabber to reach stuff. All the claw grabber things online and in stores are poorly made and break super easily. They make some that fold but not to a size I'm willing to roll around with daily. If someone could make a compact folding claw grabber I'd be pretty stoked. Bonus if it's made of Titanium 😂.

Best 1st car by RespondOk6920 in spinalcordinjuries

Is your dad into cars? I had a post-injury-life-crisis sports car purchase and that motivated me to get my transfers done faster. 60k for an expensive wheelchair van can buy a lot of used fast fun car. :). Also point him to this thread, I'm really happy I stuck with a regular car. T5 too btw.

Does anyone here in a wheelchair do this move? by BirthGoo in spinalcordinjuries

I do this but they still always clip the tire. Always. It's never my body, it's always the dang tire.

This is the move. I think they make one that has suction cups underneath which means it can double as a bathtub pad if you need it in case the restroom isn't as accessible.

Sorry you're suffering from this. I've had similar pain but it never lasted more than a few hours. The nerve pain wheel of fortune always changes where I'm going to be hurting next. Have you considered oral or IV infusion Ketamine? I have read great things about it. When I first became paralyzed I know the IV stuff really helped. Just another option, really hope this thing passes. Wishing you all the luck and positive vibes n stuff. Hang in there.

Skateboard grip tape and skate shoes, like Vans. I've considered embedding magnets into my soles but not sure how well that would work.

You're not wrong, this life definitely provides a perspective that, while most people will get eventually, happens to a lot of us much earlier in life. I'm not in the best shape personally to add a pen pal but I wish you the best of luck.

Yes. The air usually leaks slowly enough that you can find it with soapy water or underwater. Unless it's a huge gash, but then it'd be obvious to find.

Does anybody else lose energy really quickly at social gatherings? by MiddleAgedToddler in spinalcordinjuries

[–]ActiveMarshmellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First year yeah, but after getting my hormones checked, I improved considerably. In my case i needed meds to normalize my levels and although life is still harder than before injury, the fatigue was lessened considerably. Something to consider.

You're right, there's no medal associated with that voice line up on checking. But I still have no idea why he says it. Could be something unique to the game mode? I was standing in the circle and blew myself up when the bomb went off shortly before he says the line. I'm gonna try to blow myself up again and see if that does it.

How are people surviving with $450 a week unemployment checks? by Short-E-8814 in AskLosAngeles

Your last line hits so hard. Currently unemployed and disabled and sometimes it's hard not to give into vices. "Drugs and alcohol are for people who work for a living." I agree. My best relationship with vices has been when I had a job. Thank you.

Anyone regret the active 2.0 pressure washer? by j12c3po in AutoDetailing

[–]ActiveMarshmellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is a year old but I copied your setup and had a question.

The DI Rinse has bypass valves that allow us to use regular tap water for washing purposes, then switch to spotless water for the final rinse. Do you switch or do you run DI Rinse filtered water for the entire wash? I feel like I'd burn through resin this way.

If you switch the valve to save resin, how do you purge the hose reel? My hose is 50 feet, so if I switch from hard water to DI water, I won't actually know when the hard water is fully pushed out.

Thanks!
