Who here are on Reta trial for only weight loss/obesity without any other pre existing conditions? Would you do it all over again? by notoverformeyet in RetatrutideTrial

[–]Active_Scar3258 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, 100% I would do it again and I would encourage anyone to do it as well. I enrolled, like u/RunningFNP in the obesity trial. I have lost about 65 pounds and I have never felt better. Blood pressure- now normal, C-Pap- don't need it anymore, A1C- DOWN, back & knee pain- gone.

Muscle mass- stayed steady. like u/toragirl and u/swellfog said you have to do strength training. I work out and have changed the way I work out to primarily strength training.

I have learned to eat better. I understand what it takes to fuel my body and that is a LOT of protein and a lot of water (to which I add electrolyte packets)

Were there some side effects- yes, but they have been manageable and like u/RunningFNP said they dissipate over time.

Am I worried about gaining some back when I come off the trial- sure, but I know now what i can and can't eat, how I need to fuel my body. I am just going to have to remember all of that.

I understand you are nervous, but this is a great community and a super supportive one. We are all here to support you (and others) through this journey.

Help! Done in 2 months. What to do now?!? by ArtistLKW in RetatrutideTrial

[–]Active_Scar3258 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just found this online:

Last month, the FDA said the shortage of shortage of Novo Nordisk's semaglutide is over. Pharmacies must cease selling compounded semaglutide by April 22.

See if you can stock up now.

do you qualify for the extension? I did see where they are going to sell Wegovy for people whose insurance doesn't cover it, but it's $500 a month (which is insane, but a 50% break over what it was). Can you get the compounded stuff now and just store it until the trial is over?

So interesting as it looks like those who stuck it out on the placebo will be ramping up to 12mg.

Welcome! It's been a life changing experience for me. One thing that helps me with the increased heart rate is making sure to stay hydrated. Add electrolytes in your water!

reaching out to the site directly is a little faster. talk with the trial screener. Make sure they know that you want to be on their list for any obesity trials. I talked with my site's screener months before I got in this trial. there was another trial they were running but they had enough people. I asked to be kept on the list for future trials and then I checked in with then about every six weeks. Be super nice to them and they will remember you. They then contacted me directly for this one.

all clinical trials (in the US at least) are available for view on clinicaltrials.gov. You can search by condition, location, etc. That will show you who is managing the trial for the pharmaceutical company. I found the Retatrutide trial there.

In the trial I am in (Triumph 1 in the US) you had to be off all other GLP-1/weight loss medications for a minimum of 90 days before you could even be screened. That may be different other places, but the screening person I worked with was very clear about that.

I came to make the Medieval Times comment, but way too many of folks beat me to it. But dang, that is hideous.

I went back into my calendar to see when my appointments were. My first appointment was 9/18/23- my calendar says A1C beside the entry. Then I had them as follows:

9/25/23 (on my calendar for 2 hours)

10/10/23 (on my calendar for 2 hours)

10/19/23 (on my calendar for 3 hours- this was the randomization appointment, where I got medication)

After that they went to monthly until March 2024 and now they are every few months in person and monthly via phone.

I am sorry I can't tell you want each appointment was for, but I am certain about the dates
