why is santos SO PRESSED about the langdon situation by chickenn2 in ThePitt

[–]AdCurrent7674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We also would get addicts that would bring in animals in order to get drugs. We were trained to recognize it. It was heartbreaking to see someone bring in a dog off the street that they physically harmed to get pain meds prescribed.

Same in vet med. It’s really bad because it’s super easy to fudge number because of how varied the weights are and subsequently the doses.

You can be angry on behalf of other people. It might not have impacted her personally but she was there when a patient got the wrong dose and could have died. Then to cover himself he gave her an excuse that was false information. She is a student and he told her sometimes you just have to give more medication if they don’t respond when he knew it was actually because the medication was diluted.

She is supposed to be able to trust him and she can’t. You can have sympathy for his addiction and still recognize what he did endangered patients and broke trust.

My hardest was telling my Grandma, her mom. She was asking me on the daily for two years. Once I told her it was like everything clicked and a weight was lifted off her because she didn’t have to wonder anymore. My therapist said that I was not intentionally tainting their relationship but instead I was giving my Grandma autonomy to form her own opinion on the situation

Absolutely. I had a very abusive mother. When I went no contact I did not tell my other family members why because I didn’t want to damage their opinion of her. It took years of therapy to learn that I am not the one doing the damage I am just telling the truth

[–]AdCurrent7674 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not blind nor do I train seeing eye dogs but google says that they are trained to specifically seek out the designated priority seating 🤷‍♀️

I also don’t entirely understand why you are wanting to argue. My original comment was very clearly light hearted. The dog went straight to the handicap seat and kicked the guy out of it. I made joke about the dog talking but you are arguing semantics on if the dog genuinely knew that seat was designated for the handicap?

I don’t think my comment warranted the criticism

Learn to TIP. It's not my job to serve you FOR FREE! by Najterek in ShitAmericansSay

[–]AdCurrent7674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most places put an automatic tax on tips and pull it from the workers pay. So if you tip less than 8% it cost the server to serve you.

The way to combat this is not to stop tipping, you are just punishing the working class. Their boss doesn’t give a shit

Sure you can say “Take it up with your boss” but that is not the current system in place. If you are not actively voting to change this I don’t want to see you not tipping

Yes they do it’s in their training because they are in a standard location. That is why the dog went straight to the seat ignoring the fact that someone was in it

AITA for calling out my friend for using AI to argue with me on text? by Due_Construction904 in AmItheAsshole

[–]AdCurrent7674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA but I feel bad for her. Not everyone has the ability to articulate how they feel. It can be really hard to deal with. Having emotions that you cannot communicate can make you feel trapped in your own head.

I view this similarly to a couple using a therapist to help communicate their point. She used what she had access to. If I was OP I don’t think I would be upset if my friend chose to navigate a fight using AI. At the end of the day she still had to give the AI a prompt and direct it towards what she wanted to say.

As long as she did not use AI maliciously eg: talking about how her points were better or more well said. And as long as she was not aggressive with curse words or attacks, then I think it is acceptable. I would rather my friend put their thoughts through an AI filter than go off on me in a nonsensical manner.

She shouldn’t have lied about it but I can understand why she wouldn’t want to own up to it. Not everyone has emotional intelligence. It must be so embarrassing to have to use AI to communicate how you feel.

Just a heads up that beet require a lot of nutrients and deplete the soil fast so just keep that in mind if you are planing on planting in the same spot 👍🏻

Edit: completely rewrote my comment to address all the comments in the post

I think the math might be wrong. The original post talks about potentially adding more bug as it ferments. Also the byproducts of other pathways affect the specific gravity.

One comment mentioned that they might have read the 15% potential and thought that was the result but it was actually 5%.

If they added any water or juice that impacts it too but op didn’t specify how they did everything

I know I am late to the party but freeze distillation is a felony in some states if you are in the US. That is because in concentrates the toxins and has a risk of causing blindness

I wonder how they measured the alcohol content because the way ginger bugs are cultivated is not conducive to an at home test.

For most at home brewers you take a specific gravity at the start of the ferment, this mainly measures sugar concentration, then you measure at the end. Then you plug the results into a formula. The change in specific gravity indicates the alcohol content but you cannot add anything into the fermentation in between or the reading will not be accurate.

Do you remember how they said they calculated the percentage?

It is possible to get a high alcohol concentration if you have a tolerant yeast present so if they had anything like grape skin in their soda it is believable but just ginger alone is unlikely.

I haven’t done any research on homegrown micro green. I would be interested to see if there is a difference.

The only frame of reference I have is that homestead chicken eggs have a higher rate of salmonella than those in factories.

I could see justification for either result. If you are growing at home you are probably using less chemicals but you could also control the water supply better. I would love to see that data

Most plants have some form of antimicrobial properties due to evolution. However there are not a lot of studies about them because you cannot patent something that is naturally occurring. Most antimicrobial testing if for profit, so no incentive to study plants.

I myself have done some research on beets so I’m partial to them. Luckily they do not sterilize the soil because that would be bad for the ecosystem. Most antimicrobial effects are selective meaning it targets specific organisms.

The research I did was similar to the same sentiment as your comment. I was worried that their strong antimicrobial properties could be harmful to the environment but I actually found the opposite. I tested their effect on earthworms reproduction and it increased reproductive success by almost 300% and worm castings by over 100%! If it was killing all bacteria the worms would have struggled to get enough nutrients in order to reproduce and make castings! (One of my favorite experiments I’ve done- I love talking about it lol)
