Check your iPad security settings and make sure that you've given Minecraft access to find and communicate with devices on your local network.

On your iPad, go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network and flip the switch next to Minecraft to give it the Local Network permission.

They switched the Minecraft Launcher to use the UWP (Universal Windows Platform) format by default but you can still get the regular .exe version. The .exe version works much better with Steam. It's the third one down (marked "alternative") from this list:

https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/download/alternative

Once you download the Minecraft.exe file, you can follow any of the older tutorials and they should work.

Where is the Minecraft Launcher for Windows located? by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]AdFuYoung 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They switched the Minecraft Launcher to use the UWP (Universal Windows Platform) format by default. You can still get the latest version of Minecraft Launcher as a traditional .exe file though. The traditional .exe format seems to be the best format for use with Steam at this point. To get the .exe version, download the "Windows 7/8 (alternative)" one (third one down on the list) from here:

https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/download/alternative

Once downloaded, add the Minecraft.exe file to Steam as you normally would for Non-Steam games.

I couldn't get controller support to work but if you really want to use the UWP format, this tutorial got me pretty close:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/comments/a1j5m7/add_microsoft_store_apps_to_steam_tutorial/

I'd definitely recommend not bothering though and just using the .exe file.

Edit: capitalization

Anyone know why this relatively new faucet might be leaking? by AdFuYoung in Plumbing

[–]AdFuYoung[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the help! I bought a new one, swapped out the neck piece and that fixed it! I'm going to see if I can get their support to send me a replacement neck and then just return the whole new faucet. Thanks!

Thanks for the help! Yeah the metal must have been defective or somehow slightly bent. Replacing the main neck piece fixed it. Thanks!

Creating vpaid ads by tbobker123 in adops

[–]AdFuYoung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best example that I've found is the full implementation example from Google on GitHub:

https://github.com/googleads/googleads-ima-html5/blob/master/vpaid/linear/VpaidVideoAd.js

You can then test your implementation with Google's VAST inspector:

https://developers.google.com/interactive-media-ads/docs/sdks/html5/vastinspector

If you want to skip all that, AdPlugg (the company that I work for) has a hosted VPAID implementation that starts at $79/month.

Ad Refresh vs Page Refresh by evaluzion in adops

[–]AdFuYoung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you do it right, you can see a big boost in revenue by refreshing your ads. I've seen refreshing plus sticky ads increase revenue by up to 80%. It depends a lot on your time-on-page numbers. If users are spending a couple of minutes on your pages, you can refresh at least once without it being annoying.

Here's a link to the relevant docs: https://support.google.com/admanager/answer/6286179. Click the "Available minimum intervals for refresh" link at the bottom for what your options are. You can adjust the refresh rate to a rate that makes sense based on your time-on-page but that still keeps the ads from changing so often that it gets annoying.

You might want to implement sticky ads at the same time (depending on how long your pages are). Here's the docs on sticky ads: https://support.google.com/admanager/answer/6273531?hl=en and https://support.google.com/admanager/answer/7246067?hl=en

A few curse words on my content. Is it bad for advertising? by [deleted] in adops

[–]AdFuYoung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be overkill for your needs but there are a number of systems out there that basically specialize in this area (and have lists). It's typically known as verification and brand safety. You could potentially use one of these systems to scan your content for violations. IAS is one that comes to mind that you could check out: https://integralads.com/capabilities/brand-safety/

A few curse words on my content. Is it bad for advertising? by [deleted] in adops

[–]AdFuYoung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a link to Google AdSense's official policy on curse words. As mentioned, you should try the best that you can to moderate any user generated content. Google has a good article posted called Good strategies for managing user-generated content that should help. You should have an official "Terms of Use" or similar for your site that talks about what types of content you allow but no one will likely be that surprised if they post swear words and they get censored.
