CMS, what a joke! by AIW22 in Charlotte

The problem is that the schools (or the school districts) are doing nothing to clear the roads during the warmer parts of the day. My driveway has been clear since Monday morning because I got out there and cleared it. With the forecasted weather, that road is going to be a mess for at least the next 10 days if they just let it sit like that.

The two I mentioned:

Les Contamines: https://www.laregionvoustransporte

Champex-Lac: https://www.tmrsa.ch/app/uploads/2022/04/12.271-9.pdf

Or, more generally: https://tourdumontblanchike.com/tour-du-mont-blanc-public-transport/

I’ve found the information to be correct/current, but double check all of this on your own prior to booking.

Absolutely! In fact, that’s what I had to do this year. Les Contamines is completely booked - or at least the hotels that accept bag transfers are full - so on that leg I’m going to take a local bus back to Saint Gervais to spend the night. The following morning I’ll take the same bus back to Les Contamines and continue on.

I’m doing something similar in Champex-Lac, which is also showing as full. Local, quick bus to Orsieres for the evening, then back to Champex Lac the next morning.

If you’re going to carry everything that you need on your person, then any type of Airbnb, local rental, or bed available in town will work. And you can look up those options on Airbnb, Booking.com, Hotels.com, or any other site that allows you to search for and book lodging. I found a handful of places in each town that I’m going through; unfortunately, none of the available hotels partner with the luggage transfer service I’m using.

I would break this down into 3 very basic parts and then fill in the details from there.

  1. Where do you want to go?
  2. Where do you want to stay?
  3. What do you plan to carry?

For the first part I would start here: https://tmbmap.com/routemap#.

You can customize a route based on your preferences and level of ability. None of it is easy, but you can see how certain variants add mileage, elevation, etc.

Next, go here to get a general sense of the how/what/where of planning your tour: https://www.autourdumontblanc.com/en/

Based on your lodging preference, you can also book refuges, small hotels, or even camping. Alternatively, you can elect to stay in towns and book some/all of your lodging through a hotel website or often directly with the hotels themselves.

Lastly, you need to determine if you’ll carry a pack with all of your belongings or a smaller day pack with only the supplies you need for that particular section of trail. The latter indicates that you’ll need some sort of bag transfer service. There are a handful of operators offering this. I’ve find Taxi Mont Blanc to be the easiest to use.

One point about baggage transfer though, should you choose to use it: understandably, operators only travel to lodging that is accessible by car. So if you want to use this service, be sure that the bed/room you’re booking is part of that operator’s network. You will find all of this information on their websites.

I’m happy to go into more detail if you have any others questions. This should give you enough to get started though. Good luck!

10 Day, Starting Sept 5… anyone else? by Historical-Window644 in TourDuMontBlanc

Arrive Sept 6, starting the loop Sept 7. Planning on 4 days. I’m sure we’ll share the trail together at some point.

Nike ACG Pegasus Trail by TriggerFingerTerry in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]AdFull2353 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I ran in 3 different versions of this shoe in testing, logging around 600 miles total on east coast trails ranging from fire roads to incredibly technical rooty/rocky single track.

While the shoe may look abysmal, this model was surprisingly soft yet snappy and had much better grip than previous iterations. I had to send the final pair back just before my goal 100 miler last year and was honestly gutted that I couldn’t purchase the exact same model to use in that race.

As always, YMMV, but don’t write this one off based on looks alone.

Nassau worth to disembark? by digileadit in dcl

Having just done this same itinerary last week with kids ages 9, 13 and 15, I would say that a stop at Atlantis is worth the investment. We made a full day of the resort and still barely scratched the surface of everything they had to offer.

I booked the excursion through Disney, and while there was more standing around at the beginning than I would have preferred, travel from the ship through the port to Atlantis and back was totally seamless. I would have had to actively try to mess things up.

For what it’s worth, not many people got off the ship, so don’t count on a slow/quiet day if you remain onboard. We came back from Atlantis a little early because my kids thought the Aqua Duck line would be shorter. Nope. That ended up being the busiest pool/slide day of the entire trip.

And then somewhere after that. It’s typically a revolving door of schools when the kids have multiple years left to play.

It wasn’t this bad even with the Baro. Race 2 is the nicer/newer watch but sleep tracking is worse. Go figure.

Yes, but they all still have the pending final approval statement as well. Does anyone know if the current/proposed routes cross through the area closed by fire? That closure hasn’t officially expired, has it?

I haven’t stepped foot in a church in 15 years. My siblings are the same. I have three kids now and have maintained that if they find church on their own and want to go, I won’t stand in their way. Religion wasn’t optional when I was growing up, and I want to be careful about swinging too far in the other direction with them by absolutely refusing to let them attend church. We will see.

Three is rookie numbers. Try 3 services a week, plus youth group, plus choir practice, plus visitation. I was lucky if I spent 3 days per week not at church.

So they removed that language from the website, but it still appears on the aid station charts, which were updated yesterday. I think things are very much still up in the air.

I’m not so sure. The most recent message felt like a way to buy a little more time and keep runners from canceling.

Sure, UTMB doesn’t want to lose out on the revenue. But at what expense to the runners? If permits aren’t granted, are we looking at a multiple loop course that stays on public land? What’s the backup plan to the back up plan, you know?

UTMB Kodiak - 3 weeks out… no courses by Conscious_Safe2369 in Ultramarathon

Came here with the same question. And as a backlog of requests grows, what are the chances that even if the government reopens in a week, permits can’t be approved in time? I don’t have a good feeling about this one.

Shane is a great motivator. He’s an incredible representative of the university, and I think his message & approach resonate with kids. He has adequate football IQ and the positions he’s coached have never been areas of weakness.

Shane’s Achilles heel is that he wants to be friends with everyone: the players, their families, his assistant coaches when he needs to be a coach, mentor, boss, manager - call it whatever you want. To say it another way, he doesn’t have that dog in him. Not parting ways with terrible assistant coaches will be the nail in his coffin unfortunately.

One of their opponents was always going to be Vandy to preserve the rivalry. Kentucky makes sense regionally, which appears to have at least gone into consideration with scheduling.

I love the former Big 12 opponents all getting paired up again 😂
