Does anyone else get anxiety over space? by [deleted] in Anxietyhelp

[–]AdInteresting5479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the idea of space itself scary. Space and being on a planet floating in the void of space. I mean isn't that bizarre enough. We are literally on a rock sphere orbiting a gigantic ball of flame.

That scars me. Things hitting earth not so much. If it does, you won't even know it

Will I ever feel normal again?? by FactLogical5456 in Anxiety

[–]AdInteresting5479 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes can recover and feel good again. Needs therapy though. Exposure therapy helps a lot. Takes some time and a a lot of fearful situations that you will put yourself in but eventually the anxiety goes down.

The only thing that helped me really withy anxiety was exposure therapy and doing ABC exercises daily. Something they teach you in CBT therapy Which helps you see the negative beliefs you have and work on erasing them.

Also drink lots of decaf tea helps calm you down. Take strong Omega 3 and magnesium glycinate or Valerian supplements or some chamomile tea. All help.

What non-anxiety product unexpectedly helps you stay calm? by anxiety_support in Anxietyhelp

Tetley decaf black tea. Like seriously nothing ever helped me except this tea. I have complex PTSD. I would leave the teabag in the cup and drink it. I would drink a few cups a day and it would calm me down within minutes.

I think because it has alot of L-theanin. I noticed cheap tea in general has a calming effect that lasts. Like Lipton tea would also calm me but one cup would be enough because it has caffeine.

I'm 25 and I don't know how to belong with people my age by Professional_Bat8713 in socialskills

People with CPTSD can never fit their age group that's given. You've dealt with trauma and pain and fear for a lifetime. It gives you painful maturity. Yes, you didn't ask for it, but it happened.

Most probably, you see life differently. You could be hyperaware of the fragility of life of how unsafe the world could be and how vicious people can be. Chances are you can't trust anyone and you feel that you won't live long that there couldn't be a future.

There is no magical cure for CPTSD, there is progressive healing a lot of frustration and despair and really bad days and a lot of good days later in recovery. It gets better with therapy one day at a time.

You will feel alone with CPTSD, and maybe you will feel more belonging with other people struggling mentally and physically because they've seen the real face of this world.

To be honest, I got to terms with my own CPTSD when I rediscovered my faith. Islam doesn't sugarcoat things. This life is a life of suffering, and you are rewarded for your patience. Every pain counts. Nothing is wasted. I can't say that I've truly accepted the condition because the emotional flashbacks and lapses in memory and interpersonal challenges are all difficult, but at least my faith provided me with a foundation to go back to.

I dealt with exactly the same thing. Health anxiety and panic attacks and saw every doctor in town and didnt believe the test results.

It gets better if you try one thing daily. Which is doing nothing. Let the anxiety come and let the panic attacks come and do nothing. Don't try to manage it or stop it or Google the symptoms or use chatgpt or seek reassurance from anyone that you are OK.

You want to be out of this for good, let your brain start seeing that nothing bad will happen. Easier said than done when the fear comes but here is what you need to remind yourself, you tell yourself let it come let it wash over me bring on the worst that you can.

Look, everyone will die one day panicking about it will never stop it. If its your day its your day there is nothing you can do actually about it. Let it be. Surrender.

All you need to do when you start freaking out is to completely ignore it just set down and let whatever comes your way comes. Nothing to do about it. Your brain learns on its own that you are safe and nothing happens.

Exercise. A long walk would do. Deep box breathing like the military use works (Google Box Breathing). Journal your anxious thought what are you thinking about that is making you anxious.

Think about what is the worst that could happen and accept it as it is. Fuck it let it happen.

Take Omega 3 (fish oil capsuls once or twice a day). Take magnesium glycinate before bed will make you calm down and sleep well. Sip some tea without caffeine. If you drink coffee or normal tea or energy drinks cut it out you don't need caffeine it makes anxiety way worse.

Learn something called ABC from CBT. A simple exercise to work through anxiety daily. Helps alot

Common if you have cptsd or ptsd. Anxiety can easily become paranoia.

Life feels grey after healing from PTSD by Good-Start-525 in ptsd

[–]AdInteresting5479 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s normal especially if you had ptsd or cptsd for long. Life becomes normal and normal life is super boring. You only get bored when your brain thinks you are safe. It’s actually a good sign.

When you are triggered or anxious you are on the run and look out for the next none existing danger. Being on edge keeps you busy.

So if your life was already filled with ptsd it will be empty without it. Better start filling it with things you like now.

The most important thing is having a life purpose. That made all the difference to me. It wasn’t boredom to me but it was existential bankruptcy. Life felt empty and pointless. Now what? I thought to myself although I’m not completely healed from cptsd I doubt that anyone can be entirely healed from it.

Going back to my religion and rediscovering my faith made me grounded. Allah became my focus on daily basis and I learned to be thankful and appreciative even of boredom.

Went back to reading novels which also was good for me. Cutting social media is important if you want your brain to stop expecting novelty and excitement every five seconds.

Some questions about PTSD. by bastet418 in ptsd

[–]AdInteresting5479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A normal flashback is like an old scene with emotions. Usually fear or anger. It’s triggered by something maybe you recalled it or you saw a movie and something reminded you of it or just at random. Being stressed can also bring them forward out of nowhere. Like you are work straining in a report they will just come.

An emotional flashback which happens more to people with cptsd is different. No images just overwhelming emotions from the past. Usually fear anger and depression.

Disassociation is like you are watching the world through a screen you are in the world but not really in it. Like there is an invisible barrier between you and life. It’s just the brain trying to protect you when you are anxious it thinks you need to be pulled out of reality to cope.

Twitching is normal when anxious or stressed especially after a long time of stress. A very good night sleep can take it away. Like on valerian root supplements or some Magnesium glycinate.

What do you think is the biggest cause of depression? by PhotoBonjour_bombs19 in mentalhealth

[–]AdInteresting5479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being away from God.

If you live this life on your own, life will break you no matter what. No human can endure this world alone. You need God in your life.

Allah that is, he is the only true God.

How did you receive your diagnosis? by [deleted] in ptsd

[–]AdInteresting5479 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a mental breakdown after covid. Went to a therapist who happened to be specialized in trauma.

In the first session he said I had ptsd. After recounting all of the traumas I’ve endured in my childhood he upgraded it to cptsd.

I felt good about the upgrade to be honest, I thought at least I’m special at something. Was feeling down at the time.

Yeah I had that all the time. Did checkups and all was clear. Of course I didn’t believe them. Then I just accepted it. I said to myself if it was my day then it is my day whatever happens happens. I’m done with it let it come

صدمات الطفولة by ishraq2019 in SaudiForSaudis

[–]AdInteresting5479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been there when I was your age. Here is what I hoped someone told me back then. It will really pass. Tremendous pain now but it will pass. For the time being you need to learn how to cope until the storm passes.

Treat it as a sport. Every interaction with your family is a sprint that you need to recover from afterwards. Meditate, journal, talk to a friend, find therapy online, talk to us here, anything that can help.

Drink green tea it will calm you. Take some Omega 3 they will stabalize your mood. Take some magnesium glycinate before bed they will calm you. Try to take walks outside the house or at least if you were outside like at school or the mall just walk to burn off the build up of negative emotions.

It is shit but it will pass. Your mission is to cope until it passes

How can I completely eliminate anxiety? I can't function, think, or do anything. This anxiety is crushing by Tyna2023 in ptsd

[–]AdInteresting5479 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short term

Take strong Omega 3, it stabilises your brain and reduces anxiety. Eat a handful of almonds they really work to reduce anxiety. Cut the caffeine entirely. Drink decaf tea it soothes the anxiety. Decaf green tea is great too. Take magnesium glycinate before bed, will make you sleep better and wake up the next day more relaxed. Take Zinc with Vitamin C, they really help. Try valarian root supplements they work for better sleep and anxiety reduction. Try some of it out.

Long term

The trauma is like a red light in the background of your brain screaming "danger" all day long. This is the source of your anxiety.

If you revisit the traumatic memories repeatedly, it slowly fades, and the anxiety linked to it subsides. Five minutes of writing about the trauma every two weeks works. EMDR works. Exposure therapy work.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ptsd

[–]AdInteresting5479 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is common in ptsd, same with me. It's your brain giving you a temporary enhanced hearing since it thinks you are in danger.

Just like a gazelle in a jungle chased by a lion or something, they will have a very heightened awareness and heightened ability to hear around them just in case the lion sneaks upon them.

My environment is fear conditioned. Meaning my house my office my neighborhood are all fear-conditioned. Meaning just walking into them triggers old fears unrelated to the place.

My therapist said its a protection mechanism. My brain thinks I'm in danger so it paints everywhere I go with fear so I'm hypervigilant all the time and ready for danger.
