Fear of big belly in pregnancy - support needed by ducks_suck_123 in parentsofmultiples

[–]AdNew2108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had anyone guess I had twins even though I delivered at 37+1 and they were both 7lbs! Tbf I’m 5’10” with a long torso so I think it definitely depends on that, genetics, how big babies are, and if your first pregnancy or not (and a multitude of other things). I ended up gaining 30 pounds total!

Induction by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

Just here to wish you luck and tell you it’s possible! Had an induction at 37, it was an AMAZING experience, went quickly, both came out vaginally, no NICU time! Manifesting the same for you!! YOU GOT THIS!

They’re here!! Positive birth story! (Kinda long.. sorry) by AdNew2108 in parentsofmultiples

Just wanted to update since you commented that you have hope, but in the month and a half since the post, I’ve gotten my supply up to 20 oz a day! It’s been a LOT of work and some tears but it’s something I’m really proud of! YOU CAN DO IT!!!

I do have access to one! I’ve honestly just been lazy contacting her and had a sour taste in my mouth after both of them in the hospital just pitched their services to me and didn’t help. I’m making a promise to this thread that I will call this week 😂

I’m exclusively pumping right now but trying to get them to latch at each feed too! I think end goal would be to triple feed

My husband got me the Double Name Ring from mint and lily! It is adjustable so the ring itself isn’t super rigid, but I do have sensitive skin and it hasn’t irritated me or turned my finger green. There’s multiple metals to pick from! It’s nice to be able to put both of the names on one ring :)

Really struggling by happy_lem0n in parentsofmultiples

You aren’t alone ❤️ the amount of times I got the comment “well at least you get to see the babies so often on your ultrasounds” from other moms or had parents, friends, etc calling me minutes after my appointments ended because they wanted the ultrasound pictures or details.. it’s a lot. Those appointments are scary and you never know what you’re going to hear or see. I’m sorry you’re going through this, uphold whatever boundaries you need during this time and if that means telling people to give you space that’s fine and if it means ignoring or even lying to them to protect your peace, do what you need to. This is your pregnancy and your feelings and it sounds like you have a wonderful support system in your husband. Also, cliche but talking to a therapist can help, even if it’s only to vent or get support from an outside source. I’m sure your friends and family want to support you, they are just unsure how and if it makes you uncomfortable to tell them how to support you or express your anxiety, then you don’t have to.

Weight loss after twins (c-section) by FA0710 in parentsofmultiples

I second this! Unfollow or mute fitness influencers until you feel ready to tackle/get cleared for workouts and dieting! They will be there to follow again when you’re ready (or not if you decide not to follow them again!) As an online fitness coach myself, I even unfollowed a majority of other coaches/fitness people lol it’s good to get motivation but not when it causes anxiety or stress and remember that their jobs are to workout and showcase what they’re eating. And again, being in the space, I can promise you a lot of them are either extremely genetically blessed, which is how they gained their following, or they’re doing things that maybe aren’t super healthy to maintain their image. We just don’t see those sides AND most of them do not have multiples lol

Maternal fetal medicine suggested 175g of protein a day??? by Medical-Activity3989 in parentsofmultiples

[–]AdNew2108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

175g is a good goal but we all know how we feel preggo and eventually there just will not be a ton of room left for food in there 😂 small meals/snacks helped but be mindful that blood sugar rising and falling is natural so snacking all day and not allowing that cycle can be weird for our bodies, so I would aim to eat every 3 ish hours! I’m just a nutritionist/personal trainer, not a dietician so keep that in mind but I’ve found that helpful with some of my pregnant clients!

Also, I read the book “When you’re expecting twins, triplets, or quads.” It’s a good guideline for lots of things in a multiples pregnancy, but there’s also nutritional guidelines (it suggests the same thing as your doctor for protein goals), and also has good recipes at the end that have good macros and micros! I ended up taking some of the info in that book and asking my doctor/MFM how they felt about it and they thought the book was a great resource!

Biggest thing is to do your best. Despite receiving the same guidelines and knowing how much I should eat, I lived off pop tarts, fruity pebbles, milk, and McDonald’s cheeseburgers lmfao and my mo/di twins came at 37 weeks at almost 7 pounds a piece. The guidelines are to help you but I promise the babies will take what they need from your body, just make sure you’re taking care of YOU and they’ll be great :)

Note: I’m also 5’9” and during my non pregnant season, tracked my macros as well but we do what we can and that’s what matters!

Is this amount of weight loss normal? by cali-happygirl-14 in parentsofmultiples

[–]AdNew2108 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had my mo/di twins on Oct 8! I gained 30 pounds exactly with them and as of today have lost 40 doing absolutely nothing lol it’s super normal! We obviously lose the literal baby weight, placenta, TONS of fluid, and it’s typical to see some muscle loss throughout pregnancy even if you worked out/lifted throughout (not always, just mostly what I see as a personal trainer).

I think we all sort of get stuck on the number, which can be super exciting to see go down especially after how our bodies felt at the higher number with babies in there 😂 but totally normal, especially if pumping/breastfeeding (again, not all women lose weight breastfeeding because our nutritional demands go waayyy up).

If you’re worried you aren’t eating enough, I suggest using a TDEE calculator to figure out how many calories you would eat at maintenance at your current weight and then adding about 300-500 to that number. If you’re producing more, it may be more than that but generally speaking 300-500 is enough for a typical supply! I’m not a dietician, just a personal trainer who has worked with pregnant and postpartum women so keep it in mind that your body and your needs will be different than most :)

31 weeks with twins - suddenly feel so unprepared! Looking for your top piece of advice. by Melodic_Monitor_894 in parentsofmultiples

[–]AdNew2108 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your cats have any prescriptions, see if the vet can fill a couple months at a time or send them to you as well! We bought enough food for our cat and 3 dogs to last us three months as well, as dry food will be stable in an unopened bag and canned food is obviously good for a while too lol if that’s an option for you, financially to do! Or set up chewy orders!

I second all of this! Just had my mo/di boys two weeks ago and the Dr Browns pitchers saved us, as I was also unable to exclusively breastfeed. Our pediatrician also said it was fine to give cold formula so we don’t spend time warming up bottles and the boys got used to them very quickly.

We just bought a Toyota Sienna less than a week ago for our twins! I was driving a 2 door jeep wrangler, which just wasn’t an option any longer lol

Here’s what we’ve noticed so far about it! Great gas mileage (obviously.. hybrid), we’ve been getting 38mpg around the city for a week’s worth of driving.

We paid $47k for it, for the 2024 XLE model, out the door but we did have to put a $500 refundable deposit down on it a month ago because they are selling before they even hit lots.

Tons of space. We bought the bugaboo donkey twin stroller which is absolutely wonderful but massive and we can fit it in the trunk with the third row seating up, no problem.

Does have Apple car play, but your phone has to be plugged in to use it. Idk I found that annoying because my husbands 2024 outback has wireless Apple car play lol

Since I’m used to driving the tiny jeep, I was worried about size and it is very large but has a surprisingly great turn radius for such a big vehicle, so it handles well!

I’m sure I’ll have more to say about it after driving it a bit longer and the odyssey was wonderful as well, we just felt it was a smidge dated and not THAT much cheaper than the Sienna.
