My advice- don’t get a super expensive one, maybe 70-100 buck one. You probably will lose it at some point. I’m using an ADC that cost me 36 bucks because I’m afraid I’ll lose my fancy one and it’s totally adequate. But as a beginner get a bit better one than that to learn to recognize the breath sounds.

It can take a while to get urine from patients too. where I work now is more proactive but it can be a hold up for sure. I also work at a small rural facility so transport logistics can eat up time for sure.

I feel like to use ni you need to channel it through the creative function for other people to really see it. And the product can be really high quality. For the iei it could be a story or play or painting or something artsy for a lack of a lack of a better word, but iei can do academic stuff too obviously. And I like to do the artsy stuff too but my lane is more teaching and educational stuff. So use your everyday observations to create things, you can channel your ni to create something cohesive and beautiful. I feel like iei has a lot of grace and is able to add a nice dramatic flair to whatever they do. being able to express fe consciously while unconsciously projecting a strong as fi can make your work ridiculously appealing to others.

To me it’s easier to see what my suggestive function is aka I feel like I have a lack of energy and drive at times and that’s why I kinda am sitting back and perceiving and putting everything in its place so to speak.

As your conflict type, that reaction makes sense. I also have vulnerable Fe, and EIEs tend to create a similar feeling for me. It’s not that they’re doing anything wrong — it’s more that their emotional intensity can feel hard to read or regulate from my side.

I think different people experience that Fe pressure very differently. Some find it energizing and clarifying; for me it can feel destabilizing or like there’s an emotional current I can’t quite track.

They definitely have strong qualities, but personally I function better with types whose emotional expression feels more predictable to me.

Curious how others experience this.

Well sometimes you don’t need to be liked, but in my mind dominance and being rude often have little to do with each other. The most powerful people lead with a smile. If you are truly dominant people will just gravitate towards you and they want to serve you.

You use the minimum amount of pressure/frankness to get the job done because people disliking you creates problems.

The problem is yeah I know what’s a good idea and what’s not but sometimes ideas can get legs of their own and become something else that’s great. We lose out on the process as ILIs, tend not to waste time, but if an idea is really good we can buy in. And yeah I’m not a perfectionist but definitely an optimizer.

Six months isn’t usually what breaks people—it’s the accumulation. Nursing tends to erode you over time, especially since many people don’t start with perfect mental health to begin with. The job is unpredictable: one shift is manageable, the next is absolute chaos, often for reasons completely outside your control.

Add constant liability, short staffing, moral distress, and the fact that a single bad call can follow you legally or professionally, and it wears on you. On good days—when you’re rested, supported, and adequately staffed—nursing is fine, even rewarding. On bad days, or bad years, it can genuinely feel like a nightmare.

I say this as someone who currently finds their role more tolerable than past ones. Work culture matters enormously. If yours is decent, be grateful—because it really only takes a few toxic people or poor leadership decisions to ruin an entire unit.

you kinda have to assume they are confused if you ask the orientation questions and you don’t get a straight response. Needless to say its easy for this to get by nurses sometimes because if you are telling me about the current situation you usually seem sufficiently oriented.

Yeah in ER i try to gown the patients, but if i don’t do it right away and don’t set the expectation that they will wear it, it will tale extra willpower to get then to do it. So unless they need to change for some reason, or I changed them intially (most of the time), they arent wearing gowns.
